Hello from the coinlieutenant: Just arrived in 5th Fleet...How about a peace dollar post?

Hello CU family,
Haven't posted in quite a while as I have been transiting from time zone to time zone on deployment on board USS Abraham Lincoln.
Things are good out here. We are all very busy working and training non stop for what we hope to be an uneventful deployment. Made a stop in Thailand where my fiance flew out to hang out for four days, which was quite nice. Got underway again after that and have reached the Fleet in which we will be operating for the majority of the deployment.
I am hopefully about four days away from being a fully qualified Officer of the Deck Underway. Funny how the Navy works. Many of you know that I am a meteorologist and oceanographer (METOC) for the Navy. So driving the ship and being in charge of all operations, including flight operations, on the bridge as the Commanding Officer's direct representative is not exactly a job that most would think that I would do. But, on most carriers, it is pretty standard for the METOC to be one of about 6 folks on the ship that stand this watch.
It is pretty stressful, lots of moving parts and lots of standing for hours at a time, but I am slowly starting to enjoy it as I get slightly more comfortable up there. The sunsets are quite nice.
Although we are more than ready to give anyone that screws with us more than a ration of pain, all of us, as I am sure most of you are too, are praying for a peaceful deployment, especially in relation to Iran. Having been in the Navy for coming up on 18 years now, I can say that I am pretty tired of war. If you agree and have a nice pic of a peace dollar (or a peace medal for that matter), please post away.
Look forward to getting back soon and rejoining the forums on a more regular basis.
All the best to you and yours,
John

My son-in-law is on the USS Mobile Bay shadowing the air craft carrier John C. Stennis. This is a recent
picture of him in the blue jumper, piloting a Vessel Boarding Search and Seizure Team (VBSS) boat
assigned to the U.S. Navy guided missile frigate USS Mobile Bay, which intercepted a pirate skiff in the
northern Arabian Sea. This was just prior to the U.S. Navy’s rescue of Iranian fishermen from Somalian pirates.
I want to thank the entire Navy and all of the armed forces personnel for the world wide protection...hooaah!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Have safe deployment.

We spent more time under the waves than on top of them.
