FUN Candid Pics Of Newps

AuroraBorealisAuroraBorealis Posts: 3,591 ✭✭✭✭✭
While i await Todd`s beautiful closeups he took at FUN here`s a few candid shots i took with my new Canon... Mrs. Morgan Dollar namer i guess felt sorry for me having to endure the long flights and all the walking i did at FUN so she bought me a new Camera... image
Haha i actually got my butt kicked for spending so much... image But since our old camera is on the fritz and since we have to new grandson, baby Carsen Lee she bought me this very nice Canon Rebel T2i with a 60mm f2.8 macro lens.
Here`s a few of the newps i picked up...
Bare with me as these are my very first shots using the camera on a pair of my grey shorts in the bath room with the vanity light above the mirror on... Other then cropping right off the card...

Hope you guys and gals enjoy...

The 1885-O is spectacular among the group there image
  • AuroraBorealisAuroraBorealis Posts: 3,591 ✭✭✭✭✭
Thanks guys! Stone that 85-O is VERY nice... It`s also kind of in the sweet spot of the lighting that is in the room...
In the group picture the top 3 coins are a bit over exposed with the lighting hitting them more directly...However those top 3 in hand are VERY spectacular Morgans... Keep in mind these are my first pics using the new camera and i`m just trying different things and i have it set on auto everything...In fact i had to stop the flash from popping up on those shots... image
Here`s another shot with a different positioning of the coins less one to fit the shot....

    SA-WEEEEETTT!!! image

Of more importance, CONGRATULATIONS!!! on the grandson. Something tells me Grandpop will be trying to interest Carsen in some of these suckers in a few years time.

I'm glad you had a good time at FUN, and if you hadn't overspent at a major show I'd have been surprised. Have fun did you now? image

Ordinarily I would discount toned Peace Dollars as spurious. But this is one scary looking Peace Dollar! And I don't mean that in a negative connotation. image

That is one of the coolest photos in numismatic history and the fact that you were able to capture the color of 7 slabbed coins at once is a testament to the quality of the coins that you have photographed. Bravo my friend, Bravo!

how do you take a candid picture of a group of coins? did you sneak up on them when they werent expecting it? the fact that they are arranged in some order shows that the shot was prepared

    Great coins!

Let's help Wayne name them (not to take away from the in-house professional).

My choices are, clockwise from the top:

    Tequila Sunrise
    Green with envy
    Dark side of the Moon
Red guitar, three chords, and the truth
    Textile Mill
    Monster Mash

    center one:
    Orange Blossom

    Thanks guys!

Rick most are already named from the previous owners... We are really liking the center coin to be called "Orange Blossom" Thank you for that! We still need a name for the 85-O and like your choice but need a condensed version of it... image

So far the names are as follows from the middle top clockwise...

    "Zig Zag"
---------- have someone naming this one... image
---------- we need a name for this one please help... image
    "Heavenly Light"
    "Tsunami"
    "Pink Panther"
    and middle coin
    "Orange Blossom"

Thanks for that Lehigh I was approx. 4 ft. above them standing on the vanity counter with the 60mm macro shooting straight down with just the vanity sink lighting... image My wife was just smiling shaking her head... image

LOVE your enthusiasm for the toned high end of the hobby! (And I'm not saying that in any kind of patronizing or elitist tone). I really love that the 1 percenter's of us that love mainly toned coins have a venue to share - and that you share the best of the best with us.
