Does it appear to have been improperly cleaned? Hairlines from die polish or cleaning or both? Do you think it will grade?

My first thought as well.
It's hard to tell from a pic though.
TomB, you are correct. It does look llike there has been a cleaning in front of the face and along the eagle's back. I think it will genuine.

If they're cleaning hairlines it's impressive that someone could bring them all the way to the very edge of the nose and not touch it.
Keeping the coin's actual size in mind, is it likely these would be spotted with a 10x loupe? Looking at the smaller images, which are still pretty large, they're undetectable.
A shame, really.

These ladies sure look scabby when enlarged too much. Mine is well-struck. Yours is even better!
