2011 Anniversary sets prices stabilizing now

It looks like we've formed a bottom over the last week where prices were in a gradual decline, but have now stabilized. Sealed boxes of 5 sets are disappearing fast and are averaging about $3300 right now, ngc 70 sets are averaging about $1100 and pcgs about $1300. Raw sets are at about $660. I think sealed sets will see the biggest percentage increases over the next few months. The supply is definitely disappearing.

Christmas day might be the best day of the year to get these via eBay auction. just be sure to snipe and follow very recent auction closing process
at least it was in 2006 for the 20th sets
<< <i>Not sure what the results number used to be, but I see this on my search:

Keep in mind I am talking about PCGS 70 sets. Also, the completed listings also shows unsold coins. I have seem moon money sets being listed over and over and over . . . . as 1 day or 3 day auctions (for the same price).

True, but I was referring to the OP in reference to sealed sets, PCGS, NGC and raw sets. The results still seem kind of high to me if supply is disappearing.
In all honesty though, I can't remember how high the available sets used to be.
<< <i>The results over the whole 25th release may not be that high if including all 25th set coins. There has been a marked increase in single graded coins showing up that show up when I search for set as they include the word set decribing their single coin. Also, the last time I looked at graded ATS sets, they were lots and lots of 70 sets on there. >>
I wonder how the high amount of 70's from ATS will affect the overall values? I would assume it could only drive them down.

IMOP, I think it will effect only the ATS sets. History has shown the PCGS grades generally hold a premium over the other but on the other hand, it is moreexpensive to get PCGS grades. Will the buyer pay the premium? I don't know but I am hedging my bet on the PCGS 70 sets rather any from the other TPG companies.
I am sure one is significantly higher than the other.
<< <i>I would be nice to see the percentage of 70 sets compared to number of sets submitted for each service.
I am sure one is significantly higher than the other. >>
IIRC ATS is running at 70%+ and PCGS at 56-58%.
I've been watching 2 sets of keywords and there's a definite dropoff in listings. "25 anniversay eagle" is down to 1,545 from 2,300+ and "25 anniversary eagle set pcgs 70" is down to 136 from 160+ (and many of those are actually single coins not sets).
If/when GoldMart lift their $1,250 ask for PCGS 70 Mercanti sets, those might take off. Great marketing on their part, not only are they selling at what is still presumably a good profit having bought fairly aggressively in the pre-sale market, but they're raising awareness of their brand. I'd never heard of them before, but given how much better than Apmex their prices for bullion are, they'll likely be my go-to source in future.
If this trend continues prices will be going back up. I have been buying PCGS singles of the key dates for what seems like short money. Only time will tell if I have spent my money wisely.
I just hope prices stay where they are for weeks/months so I can continue to buy...

That's per household...and when you have some in-laws (living elsewhere) who are helpful in the "collection and distribution" process....well, you know how it is.
<< <i>I think alot of collectors will load up on these with the 95W in the back of their minds going for $3000. >>
How many PR70 95W would you like to sell at $3,000?
As for the rest of your post, I kind of got lost. It appears you are just talking about raw coins, which I agree could end up around the $2,000 mark for a set. However, IMOP the PCGS 70 sets will then go for at least 50% more. So, around $3,000 each. Right now, the 70 sets going for around 2X the price of raw sets.
<< <i>Ugh, I was hoping to see another 10% decline over the next two weeks so people will be dumping them at the FUN show. Fat chance I know, but hey I'm an optimist

I think it's too soon to make any "this is the bottom" predictions.
<< <i>I've seen at least 2 sealed boxes of 5-sets with BIN's under $3000.00 go unsold on Ebay within the past week, and numerous opened single sets also end with zero bids in the low $600's.

I believe the open sets are a dead horse and will continue to decline for a bit. As for unopen sets, why pay $600 a set ($3,000 for 5) when for $750 to $850 you can get a PCGS 69 set. Less than twice that amount guarantees you a PCGS 70 set. Is it worth rolling the dice and hope for a 70 set?
Do you fell lucky?

On another forum I visit we've been tracking the prices nearly daily and prices have been largely flat for a few days now for the first time. Couple that fact with the knowledge that the # of overall listings is way down and that's why you have some thinking this is a bottom. It certainly could be, but no one can call a bottom until we've started to move back up so a pause in the decline for a few days may or may not be the actual bottom. I'm crossing my fingers that prices will start to dip again, but only time will tell...
Some people might say.... why pay twice the amount for a set of these in some 3rd party holder when you can have the same 5 coins in equal or virtually the exact same condition for a lot less, not to mention the coins look very nice in the OGP.

To muddy the comparison even further you have to consider whether or not the box has a date of 12/7 or prior. I too have seen cheap boxes of five this past week, but they had dates past 12/7. We have at least two members here willing to pay $600ea for sealed boxes of five as long as they're 12/7 or earlier so I just don't see them dipping below that. I may be wrong and I hope that I am, but sealed boxes that are still eligible for the "FS" gimmick, err I mean 'designation', probably have a floor at $600ea.

I had rasied that price to $620/set in the a.m. and $642/set now in the evening to continue to try to be high buyer out there for sealed 12/7 or earlier sets.

<< <i>I've been offering to buy sealed boxes 12/7 or earlier for $3200 on a dealer network for three days now and haven't bought a single box. I also have buy/sells on all NGC and PCGS sets on the same network and have seen minimal activity on the buy side and huge volume on the sell side. Bottom is here in my opinion. The flood waters have subsided. >>

I think that answers the question definitively for the moment
<< <i>I bought three 2011s 70s to finish out some 5 coin sets last week from an ebay flipper in too big a hurry to unload great material. The 2011s and 2011 RP are serious coins. I am a net buyer not seller at these levels because demand for these super coins is going to march on and on but the glut will dry up and be nothing but a memory. >>
@ericj96 - are your sets flag label, mercanti, or both?

Multiple orders for different addresses, bought extra sets, the possibilities are endless.

So when you say you are a net buyer is there a specific grade youre looking at or would it be a safe bet to load up on 69s in both PCGS and NGC slabs or hell even raw coins.

<< <i>Tonight I picked up a PCGS 2011 S 25th Anniversary Eagle for $405. Seems like a steal at this level. I have picked up the PCGS 2011 P's RP70 at $457-$490. If they go any lower I may have to back up the truck! >>
Only if you like the Mercanti labeled sets. The flag sets have dropped, but can be had in the $550 - $600 range. BTW does anyone know what the cost is to have the Mercanti FS labels reholdered into Flag labels?

It will cost $30 per coin plus shipping and handling for MS/PF 70 coins ($10 per coin for all other grades)

Thanks. Any idea how many sets PCGS authorized with his signature?
<< <i>I believe in the long term Mercanti labels will be scarcer than flag labels. Once the majority gets theirs graded they will opt for flag labels and those will become the majority. Give it time and Mercanti's will probably be the big winner. The flags right now command a higher premium because there is less of them on the market. >>
As the saying goes...supply & demand will dictate the price & not scarcity and I seriously doubt that there will ever be much of a demand.

Eric Jordan says differently. I'll stick with his opinion.
My 2 cents
Mercanti sets are now selling for less than Flag but you can alway re-holder Mercanti into Flag for $150 + S/H down the road if the price difference make sense
You will not have a reverse option Flag --> Mercanti

I doubt it...As the price for the 2011 fluctuate ..the price for the 2006 contiues to rise.As we go foward into next year I believe the prices for both sets will keep escalating...
