I don't have the heart to make him sweat... But did just post here instead of letting him know via PM that I got it! image

curly, I just about fell over when I saw there was nothing but postage on the box.

I haven't been to the post office since last Saturday so it's most likely been sitting there for days.

if you are sending to an honest person,
then self insurance may make sense.

I do it all the time, self insured, when dealing with a friendly, reliable source. Why would you care, as the seller? It's the buyer's risk entirely.

Obviously it bothers you more than him. So I will ask another question, would it bother you more if you did not get paid ???

Its his problem if you do not so so do not sweat it.

I don't thnk it's correct either , ive been told once in the past i can not send cash in the mail by a USPS employee or i shouldnt because it's not insured or wont be.
I struggle to see the point of the thread , if someone trusted me enough to send funds without heavily tracking etc i doubt id be looking to make that person feel foolish for having trusted me,perhaps they were.

Bad idea by the sender! Had the parcel been lost, it would have been a very uncomfortable
    situation for both parties.

No you can not insure a cash shipment is expressly a no insurance item.

But if I was buying from the OP I would feel about as save sending cash to him as sending a check.

Sorry but some guys are know to be in the circle.image

No, you cannot insure cash at all. I would have stashed it in a used book or something and insured the book for $200, since the book was most likely some out of print rarity.

Why would it have been uncomfortable for the seller?

If honest, known parties are involved then this is no different from paying a dealer cash at a show. Except, of course, for the very small possibility the envelope is lost.

If the two are untrusting strangers then okay, it would be awkward. In that case, the buyer deserves a slap in the head.

Insurance costs something. The time it takes to get a money order costs something. The fees from wires or Paypal transfers cost something. For some people, especially some people on this forum, a couple hundred bucks to them is no more signigicant than a handful of change from Starbucks to the rest of us. If you make a few thousand per day, why not accept the miniscule risk of losing a piece of mail once in a blue moon? My guess is that it just really wasn't all that important to whoever sent it, otherwise he would have send the funds in a different manner.

Seems much safer to just turn that cash into a USPS Money Order (or multiple money orders if over $1000).

Why would you even want to insure cash? A Postal money order is cheaper (and relatively safe).
