Starting a "different" type of "Box of 20"

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,790 ✭✭✭✭✭
Taking some time off soon for the holidays and have decided to create a box of 20.
This box of 20 will be the coins I am ok selling. I don't sell much (aside from flipping new items from the mint) so this is hard for me to do.

I am looking at my spreadsheet of coins and then pulling out the dupes and going to the SDB and comparing the dupes hand in hand and deciding which to keep and which is ok to sell. I am also ok in NOT selling (ie....don't have to sell). Just figured that maybe it was time to start paring down the early purchases where, while the coin can still be nice, my tastes changed a bit or I bought multiples.

Anyone else do this type of "box of 20" yet?

I figured to do it this way so I wouldn't overwhelm myself with selling too much at once but it would help give me a goal/direction instead of just 1 at a time.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I only have about 20 coins in my entire collection. Can't sell them all at once...at least not yet!

I box of 20, will be closer to 80.

Wheats, Indian Heads, & Buffalo.....first will be offered at my local coin club membership in late January, then on the web (NOT fleecebay). All the coins are raw.

Have been purchasing nice, problem free, higher grade coins a few here and there over the last couple of years, just for this purpose. The end goal? 1909 S VDB in 62/63 BN/RB.

I also keep a box of coins that I don't mind selling.
I will admit though that it is getting tougher.
I have become more selective on the coins I buy and it is tougher to weed them out.

I just put a box together last week, but I can't decide whether I really want to sell them or not. They are dups, but most are key dates that should be a good long term hold.

I have done similar, both in the past and recently, but not focused on the number "20". The next best thing to acquiring a cool coin for your collection is placing it in someone else's collection, especially when you know the person and know they will appreciate it. image

Only reason I am "focusing" on 20, is because I am using an extra PCGS box to put these in so I don't have them in different locations image

I am not a coin seller by nature, so for me to actually agree to myself to sell any coins, instead of just hoarding and dumping on my son later, is taking a lot of effort.....it really really is.

Is there a discount if I buy the whole box? image
