This is the largest I have seen, 1129 pounds. Some decent stuff too!

Fun to look at.
Anyone ever see one larger on ebay?
What was the largest coin collection you’ve seen offered for sale, intact?
Just wondering…

<< <i>It appears that brianhowardart does not wish to go through the coins and sell them individually or as individual sets for the owner(which would probably bring much more money). Lazy way to do business, IMHO.

I for one would not want to handle this mess. You lining up for it?
Some people go for quantity. I'd rather have a small number of nicer coins.
"1,129 Pounds in total weight, 75% of it silver coins"
That's 846.75lbs of silver coins. Say they're all 90%, That's 762lbs, times 16oz per pound is nearly 12,200 oz, times 32.62, that's almost $400,000!!! That's an insanely expensive lot to list on eBay. But holy crap, would I LOVE to go through that lot!!!!

Back to the lot 1,100 lbs of coins would keep me busy looking for die chips and die cracks till the end of my life.
Are they really this stupid, or are they destroying the dollar on purpose?

It looks like he had a collection of the usual series, Barbers through current day, then tried being a dealer and added a lot of lower grade circulated stuff; maybe other purchased collections.
The coolest thing I saw in there was the blue Whitman folder nearly full of large cents.
1793 apparently, can't tell what type
1793 flowing hair?, extra pole and cap cents (at least 7 total on both pages)
The loose trimes and loose Morgans were fun, too.
And the silver commems are pretty good.
Free shipping, really?
Perhaps the plan is just to catch the interest of some local buyers, then the item never makes its reserve and is sold outside of ebay.
12/4 update: up to $60k, still below reserve...
Is this PVC going on here?

<< <i>It's sitting at $30,100 as of now with Reserve not met. What does anyone think it would go for?
Ron >>
If it has a reserve then it will not sell.

Edit to add: Those people were idiots for not selling most of that when silver hit $50. IMHO.

Well, at $30 somethin an ounce, I don't think 1129 pounds is junk

that works with firefox too. highlight link, right click, open link in new tab or window.
<< <i>I remember years ago conspiring with a few members here to go in together on an ebay auction for almost 200,000 wheat cents, sorted and rolled by date. Sean Reynolds >>
yep, at 146 per lb ( if thats right ) that comes to 1370 lbs of wheat backs. yeah, thats a good size truck
Look at the albums shown...they take up a portion of that weight.
Also, while I see some that would be fun, but I see a lot of crap coins in the pics as well.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

My Jefferson Nickel Collection
My eyes would get very tired looking through these coins, my hands would get very dirty and my wife would think I was crazier than she already thinks I am
What I would have to do is put the collection in a separate guest house/office or separate garage and review the collection there out of the presence of my wife and kids. In that way domestic harmony would be preserved.

It would be fun work, however, for someone who has extra time on their hands.
If you bought it reasonably right (and didn't pay a fortune in shipping), you could make some serious money if silver rises $10 more or so.
