25 th Anniversity Set damages US Mint Collector Base
Mint shoots itself in foot with one 100000 Set Issue.
For all the Collectors of ASE's that tried, but were left out with no chance for
coins to complete thier sets will loose interest and leave the Mint going back
to TAXPAYERS for funding in order to sell to sell to the few(less than 20,000)
that will get coins.

What's your beef Swamp?
Are you for lowering the spelling standards to fit today's educational system?
for years and can remember how US Mint with Congress's Money kept looking for a CEO that would
see the mint stand alone.
I bought the product for 50 years in support of U.S Mint, not to profit from it,but this issue will REDUCE Revenue
from Collector Base for years to come.

I understand your 'responce'.....but it appears you did not get any sets....am I correct???
If ebay sales are an indicator more that 20,000 people will own this set.
But if you can afford $300, you can probably afford $450.
If my order doesn't go through I'll probably pony up in the aftermarket.
Don't let it get you down.

Senior mint suppervisor states that 100's of the orders were wiped out because of systems failures and poor phones.
For those that don't read well what I write is the reason I liked the 20 OPT years spent on dangerous missions
and never had a misunderstanding.

relictrader, I wrote "Huh?" because I really didn't understand your original post. Understand that in online forums there is much to be interpreted as written word is taken just for that, written word. This leaves up all emotion, meaning, sarcasm, etc up to the interpretation of the reader. Part of the reason the emoticons were put into place.
I can't speak for the rest, but this was the problem I ran into w/ your original post.

For all the Collectors of ASE's that tried, but were left out with no chance for
coins to complete thier sets. [the ASE collectors] will loose interest [which will] leave the Mint [to go back]
to TAXPAYERS for funding in order to sell to sell to the few(less than 20,000)
that will get coins [instead of the real collectors] in the future.
About right?
Hoard the keys.

Agreed! Let the dealers eat all the 69s, and bid on one of the rare 70s! I won't be buying.

I trust you were alone.
Who knows? May have a valid point BUT low
mintage figures SHOULD equate to rarity & premiums.

<< <i>Collectors were mad at the mint in 1995 when they forced collectors to buy the 1995 W through the 5 piece Gold and Silver Set. They did not buy. But I don't think they lost too many customers in the future. Do collectors have short memories? The mint will offer a bauble that will be irresistible to its customers no matter how mad they are at the mint. >>
Huh?
I wasn't mad.
I just didn't buy.
Is it too late to complain now?
Oh wait, the US Mint didn't have a web site back then. They didn't even have a telephone order line.
Registries didn't exist either so there was no real "need" to have the 95-W.
Last but not least, the set was available for a long long time during 1995 via mail order which kinda makes this an apples to oranges comparison.
Folks NEED to realize that the "zero to 60" factor has completely changed from what it was in the past as given today's super quick "announcment to market" environment has created a whole new breed of dealer which moves quickly to extract their profits.
Preparation is the key and the coin collecting community had a full two months to prepare for that "Day of Inevitability". I thought I had a fool proof method which had served me well for three of the 5 oz Pucks but it failed miserably on the 27th. I had to resort to <gasp> the redial key!
Yes. It was painful. But it worked.
If folks had spent as much time on their redial keys as they apparently are with their complaints (HEY! Let's call Congress?), they'd have their sets on order.
The name is LEE!
As to the taxpayer comments, perhaps a review of the BILLIONS of dollars remitted to the Treasury general fund by the Mint without taking a cent of taxpayer money to run the operation will address that mistaken idea. Mint operations actually work to reduce either taxes or the deficit (your choice) as the reduce the cost of government.
For the record I did NOT get one of these sets.
So how does this "leave the Mint going back to TAXPAYERS for funding"?
Not seeing the connection.
"To Be Esteemed Be Useful" - 1792 Birch Cent --- "I personally think we developed language because of our deep need to complain." - Lily Tomlin
It is too bad that loyal customers were left out and once again this is atributed to the Mint having a high limit of 5 per hh, if it were 3 then everyone who placed an order up until midnight on the 27th woudl have likely gotten a set and that way if someone missed the boat they either didn't know about these which is their own fault or they forgot which is their own fault, no one to blame but themselves. A 12 hour sellout would eliminate people who couldn't order because of work constraints or family errands, again they would have no one to blame but themselves, but with the Mint having a high hh limit and selling out so fast then there are legit arguments that th e Mint screwed up by not lowering the hh limits to 3.
Personally, I think we should all send a thank you card with a basket of fruit to the Mint for this major year-end gift!
