  It has a lot of eye appeal. As long as it was worth it to you for the premium you paid, enjoy it!

  if it was a "Classic" issue such as an 1881-S Morgan Dollar members would be putting on the drool bucket and tripping over themselves to say how beautiful it is and how they could own it. as an often considered mundane Franklin i think it still has wonderful eye appeal which makes it worthy of owning. whenever i stumble onto coins like this, irrespective of what they are, i buy them and stash them for the long haul.

  love it!! original and beautiful looking. calling a lovely coin like this a widget would be way off base.

  it is, by definition, a widget the same as my alluded to 1881-S Morgan Dollar. it's just that it is head-and-shoulders above most 1961 Proof Half-Dollars IMHO.

  Sometimes "widgets" can be very pretty and pleasing.
  
  The great thing about "widgets" is that it tends to keep the price down, which for most collectors is a good thing.

  Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

  On a lighter note : i am more concerned about RickO... my friend i believe you missed the rim toning on this Frankie.

  I noticed that too. I have also seen over t he last few weeks he has started to soften his anti toning stance a bit.

  I did not miss the tarnish.... my approval was mainly directed towards the strike and pristine mirrors. Absolutely I would prefer it without the rim tarnish, and there are simple ways to remove that (baking soda, aluminum foil and water) without damaging the coin. And I have not softened my position on environmental damage (the accurate term, instead of the politically correct 'toning'). Cheers, RickO
