I can't figure out a fair price for these. A dealer from of mine who is pretty sharp suggested $800-$850 per roll. That seemed high imo. But he also mentioned that Littleton is paying $41 per coin from rolls when they pick. That's helpful, but they're probably only picking out MS63 and higher coins. These rolls were put away in the early 1970's and are decent average MS62 quality overall. No sliders, all full luster decent coins. Some blasty, some a bit toned. Considering that Apmex probably buys these at 80% of their sell ($850), that's probably around $680 buy. So what would be a fair price a tad over wholesale so I don't bury my friend in these, and at the same time don't undersell myself? $800 seems too high imo. Slabbed MS62's are bid sight-unseen at Coininfo.com for $38. I guess I'm sort of surprised at the 20% spread on these coins. Seems like a lot for basically silver bullionish coins. There are probably 1 or 2 MS64 coins in these rolls. Basically a 61-64 quality range with most 62-63.

Thanks. Yeah, I've narrowed the range some ($680-$800) but it's still wide compared to the tight spreads that circ VF silver dollars and 90% silver trade for. Even at $700 per roll that's
still a 17% premium to spot. I look it as a sort of integrity thing. My job is to get him into stuff at slightly higher levels (0-5%) than I could on my own. Don't want to make a 10-15% spread on this. If $750 were a good wholesale price then charging $775-$800 would be fair. If wholesale on this roll is only $650-$675 then charging more than $700-$725 would be inappropriate imo. Interesting that I've known the guy via correspondece and frequent phone calls for 16 years but we only met once when I was out in Calif. in 2001. We live 3,000 miles apart. I also sold him sovereigns today at Tulving's posted buy prices.
Normally to figure out a price where quality of something makes a huge difference you start high (like $800 here) and then shop it at show and see what offers you get. After about 3-5 stops you'll have range pretty much narrowed down. That's not going to happen here. I'm tempted to price them at $700 since it's more about him getting a great price than it is about me making an extra 10% profit by digging deep into the retail spread. When people have no clue as to how to value what they're getting, that's when it's your job to do them a solid. Unfortunately our business usually handles newbie transactions just the opposite way.

Yes it is. So where do you put "What's it worth" type threads? Certainly not in the main body to clutter things up. It's not like this thread gets a ton of play.
But for "bookkeeping" I'll offer the 2 rolls for $800 each. If someone were really interested they would have PM'd.
I'll be able to find my buddy something else, maybe Morgan BU rolls. I don't think the Peace rolls are a good fit him.

Next item is a novelty copper charm bracelet with a few old wheat cents attached as the charms. Dates of the 5 wheaties are: 1912, 1921, 1923, 1931 and 1958. The '58 is EF, the rest are approx. VG-VF. The coins are definitely worn, and not valuable/pristine - as mentioned, this is more of a novelty item vs. anything else. From D. Carrs site: 2010 is the 150th anniversary of the first Clark Gruber & Co coins. A popular slogan at the time of the Colorado Gold Rush was "Pike's Peak or Bust". In 1860-1861, Denver-based Clark Gruber & Co produced high-quality gold coins that circulated alongside regular US coinage. A few years later the US government bought out the private Clark Gruber mint and eventually converted the operation into the official US Denver Mint in 1906.
I took it out of the flip and put it in a capsule. This is a very nice piece. I can't find were the original flip that came with it is.
