eBay, The best selection but not necessarily price

Teletrade, some hard to find coins there and at descent prices too

Our Club's monthly meeting, lot of different collecting styles combined with good prices and can trade sometimes

Shows, some what but too far between

B & M dealers, well they seem to be into bullion more so than numismatic items

BST, ever so slightly, can't seem find much of what I like

    Depends.

Junk silver or coins <$200 - I take my chances on eBay
    between $200 and $500 - Heritage
over $500 - usually a dealer I've met and trust
over $1,000 - see it in person unless it's value is all from bullion

BST - just starting. Good so far. Nothing expensive yet.
B&M store - a single one ounce ASE, but just that once
Shows - when I'm lucky enough to get to one

edit to add: Oh wow. Old thread.

I have local shop here that I go to for most of my coins. I'm not in a hurry to finish my set of morgans, so they let me peruse for vams from their raw 2x2s. They're a good store who has treated me very well, don't feel the need to go anywhere else. If I hurting for a key or something a little more rare I'll hit up the online and local auctions.

    and why?

For me, it's really the last three, ebay, shows, and BST.. I never mess with dealers online since they are usually all expensive.. >>

I do nicely with BST. The sellers seem to estimate their stuff fairly, sometimes slightly overpriced but there it is and you can make an offer.
Interesting and unusual stuff turns up frequently.
Shows are good but there is booth rental, one's time, etc... these things tend to drive prices up.
    Online dealers are often good.
Ebay is too pricey, they have made simple transactions too complex and too expensive. Scammer's, BS artistes ( that 'e' is not superfluous), unreasonable fees, illegitimate refund policies, et al, make this an interesting but increasingly obsolete venue.
Many, many perfect transactions with other members. Ask please.

It used to be at local B&M's and shows but since my knees got bad a few years ago, it's now online dealers and eBay.
I never thought that growing old would happen so fast.

Your response was a little crude and troll-ish, nothing like taking the high road to prove people wrong. Or proving them right by going all caps on a forum

Sir, (or madam whatever the case may be), if you were complimenting Rick on his choice of cars that would be one thing.
But to come on a public forum and angrily blurt out private affairs of a dealer is trollish, childish and crude.

Mainly shows these days, occasionally from a coin store. I used to get coins from e-bay, but I haven't in a while. My most recent e-bay purchases were all unattributed VAMS where it didn't matter if the picture was fuzzy and it really didn't matter if the coin was overhyped or with low eye appeal.

#1. BY FAR - Coin shows because I can see the item before I buy it.

#2. Some work with on-line dealers I know who have no questions asked return policies.

#3. Mail bid auctions with a couple exonumia dealer whose gradinng standards as tough or tougher than mine. Let me put this way. Out of almost 300 purchased lots, I've returned exactly two pieces.

#4. Major auctions when I can see the item before I bid.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

i edited my post because i posted a link to something that happened a few weeks ago. i was on vacation at the time and was not on the forum. i was giving publicity to someone who definitely does not deserve it. after a PM from a member giving me a heads up on things i removed my link.
