sent a coin into PCGS for grading?

I'd think that population of collector is very low.

    I'm sure that population is very high actually. My guess is at least 50% of the forum members.

    If we did not send many, if not all of our coins to PCGS,

    then we probably would be ATS and not on this Forum.

    Many, if not the majority, have not personally submitted.

    I have not personally submitted any coins for grading. I have PCGS-graded coins in my collection though. I prefer to buy slabbed for the guarantee of authenticity and absence of major problems, rather than for the numeric grade. I collect circulated coins, most of which are fairly straightforward to grade.

    I'd guess that non-submitters outnumber submitters by at least a four to one ratio, across the hobby.

    I've never submitted coins to pcgs, but do own many, perhaps equal in number to ngc slabs. None with a cac tattoo, btw.

    I agree with llafoe there needs to be a poll. I've been posting here since 2006 and until recently I never even owned or purchased a TPG slab let alone a PCGS slab. So I disagree with Bear that "we" who post here are necessarily loyal submitters to PCGS. Rather, PCGS hosts the greatest collector website bulletin board, which is first and foremost the reason that we forumites exist to exchange ideas. Sure, there are a number of PCGS slab collector purists here, but IMO this is NOT the overwhelming reason why we post here!

    never submitted as well. If I want something, I find either a coin thats PCGS or NGC graded.

    I've cracked one or two to fill that album slot. So yes, I've bought a few. I'm even buying PCGS slabs of the semi-key Morgans now, b/c I don't trust 'em raw anymore. So after 5 years of posting here, I'm finally buying PCGS-only slabbed Morgans.

    I have yet to submit a raw coin for slabbing though. Too many uncertainties and "horror" stories here. Although I'm sure I have some excellent raw candidates. I just don't trust the 5-second eval. in this day and age.

    Very true but most coins are straight forward to grade if you know what you are doing.

    This is the PCGS forum after all. Ask at a local show or club like RickO does, and the percentages will be reversed, perhaps even lower. They are lower at my local coin club, with perhaps 15% of the attendees having submitted at least one coin. My club meets in one of the wealthier zip codes in the country. In less prosperous cities, the numbers will be lower still.

    Again, a reminder to the readers, this forum skews towards the deep-pocket quality seeking collector. What is popular here, what is deemed average here, is usually well above average out in the wider coin community.
