This is a rare variety being auctioned at this summer's ANA - best estimate is two known. The closest to the closing hammer price wins choice BU or proof little rock dollar. Entries accepted this thread only until 11:59:00 EDT 07/30/11. Good luck!

Wow, that went for way more than I had thought possible. It hammered at 304,000 and the juice brought it up to 349,600. Unless I missed something, Chieftan1 was the closest at 324,000 with juice. I'll contact him to let him know. Thanks all.

<< <i>$207,000 incl. the juice. If this wins, give the prize to a deserving YN. >>
Nice offer - I'll do just that in addition to this giveaway in your name at our next club meeting. Thanks for the thought.
Steve

Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
have any been slabbed?
Coin World has a very informative article about the shenanigans going at the SF mint during this time frame. IMO, if this piece had not been made in a clandestine manner, it would go much higher.
I knew it would happen.

It has not been established whether the 1975 "No S" Proof dime was a legitimate error, as happened with other "No S' proofs in 1968, 1970 and 1971, and again in later years, or if it was struck clandestinely, as happened with other types of errors at the SFAO in this time period. Either is possible. Neither has been proven.

The Coin World article stated that the piece being auctioned was at a TPG at press time.

Here's a pic of the coin (a PCGS PR68) that was just listed on CoinFacts...

$260,000 hammer for a total of $299,000.00. A price which I assumed was insanely high, but I see others in that same range or higher.
Get the 2 right bidders and I wonder if we could be way under guessing it.
