    I think I would specifically tell her not to surprise me with any coins, as any could be counterfeit.

    Your wife should also be aware that if she sees that Gucci handbag for sale at a fraction of the going price elsewhere in the world she should be dubious as well. Genuine brand name items go for a premium and are in high demand over there so nothing of that sort should be available at a discounted price.

    I know a guy who brought some 'Callaway' clubs back from China. Last I heard, he was spending a LOT of money on lawyers because the customs guys weren't too keen on the idea.

    While there is no doubt that the counterfeit market is huge in China, there are likely also some opportunities for genuine articles - which - if her 'guide' has connections, could lead to some interesting opportunities. Cheers, RickO
