Looked through a few proof sets at the B&M today, went through about 30+ 1964 proof sets, it was nearing closing time at the shop, and I almost cut myself short before making it through them all...I made it to the 2nd to last set and then...this image

The Cameo looks good to me but what does the hairline situation look like?

Ypu must have bought it and submitted it since thats not proof set packaging.

    Wud it grade? image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

  • Looks like it is temporarily in an airtight.

Looks CAM (what with the weak reverse lettering), probably pr66 (white specks).

The reverse is definitely the weak spot as the CAM/DCAM designation goes. I think it's solid CAM.

    As for hairlines...I see none.

I cut it out of the flat pack and it's in an Air-Tite now.

are those milk-spots, especially on the obverse??
  • ModCrewmanModCrewman Posts: 4,053 ✭✭✭✭✭
Yes Al, I do believe they are milk spots. I've done nothing to it right now, I'm hopeful the fields would really clean up with a dip...however...I haven't touched it. Went straight from the flat-pack to the Air Tite.

Edit - and BTW you guys did notice the variety, didn't you?

    Nice AH

    Most likely a 65 CAM

    I just made 3 68 CAM's today (yep AH's)

Nice...I have cherrypicked a few AH's at B&M's.... if those are milk spots, acetone will not touch them. Good luck, Cheers, RickO

You know after agreeing with Keets last night that they were Milk Spots, I thought perhaps that wasn't accurate...I'm not sure I've seen/had anyone specifically tell me "Those are milk spots." in hand...what I can tell you is "They are spots."

Milk spots are not specifically reserved for SAE's. Your coin does indeed have Milk Spots which according to Russ, is commonl for the 1964 Proof Kennedy.
