I've been watching this thread the last couple of days and was hoping something would have been posted by now....

I'm getting my doubts on how this turned out, unfortunately.

Why, because they didn't issue them in $1000 bags or looking for the FEP? Not sure how they were issued.

I am hoping the delay in posting is due to shock . .

CarterMurph got the bag out. It read "1895". No mint listed. In a frenzied panic, he ripped into the bag with a box cutter, scratching one of the coins in the process. He now has 1000 Mint State 1895 dollars, one of which will not certify due to a 3/4 gouge from a box cutter (that one will be mine).

After 'going dark' from all of us for 30 days, we will see the following show up in the PCGS Pop. Report:

    1895 MS S $1

    NG 1
    MS61 13
    MS62 29
    MS63 166

    MS67DPL 4
    MS68 5
    MS68PL 2
    MS68DPL 2

CarterMurph's User ID will be turned off. He will retain a law firm to dispose of the hoard and write his memoirs and move to Aruba, never to post again.

I think he owes each of you who believed the story for a colonscopy, because he is blowing smoke up your "backside." All this smoke being blown could cause colorectal cancer!

Colonoscopy is a procedure used to see inside the colon and rectum. Colonoscopy can detect inflamed tissue, ulcers, and abnormal growths. The procedure is used to look for early signs of colorectal cancer and can help doctors diagnose unexplained changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain, bleeding from the anus, and weight loss.

My report was without prejudice . . just a simple representation of the bag. I leave it up to each individual colector to determine value, worth, and desirability.

Remember . .I got the one that was scratched by the box cutter . . . I took one for the team!

But, I'd take any of them if they happened to be in a Doily!!!

  • ok so they obviously didn't open the box yesterday. Last night he responded to my text saying "it had to be scheduled." When I don't know. I'm very disappointed. I understand if you folks want to banish me to the metal detecting forum. I don't blame you. I will post back the contents of the box but maybe not in real time.

I went through all that work to post that 1895 (yeah, I know the PF-MS history . . . that was the POINT!!! Duh!!) stuff and I think it was for all of our humorous continuation of the thread . .

Oh well . .it was fun.

And yes . . . I know the 1895 is known only in proof. That was the POINT of the thread . . .

just checking in and hoping that my initial thought was off-base, but i really doubt it. at this point a bag of Ike Dollars or SBA's would be a winner in my book because i assume the box is probably empty, the contents(if they ever existed) sold years ago. i can't help it, the skeptic in me comes out sometimes.image
