I don't have any of my simple broadstrikes posted online, so I'll post this one, especially since I'm not so sure I'll be on these forums for long.

Although I don't know him personally he's a fellow error collector so this is some sad news.

I did not order the "code red".
  • code red

Don't you mean green light, code red is something else. As is code X.

<< <i>There were some OT threads last night about the appropriateness of certain adjectives when describing coins, and it looks like Broadstruck wasn't the only casualty, the OP in the main thread got the boot too. >>

I didn't see the thread, but from coin show experience that is a topic that can go south very quickly. Pistareen came up with one at the last Baltimore that I had never heard before. It probably wouldn't take too much encouragement to get him to repeat it image

Darn... he had a great sense of humor... and was very knowledgeable. I have a PCGS green label DMPL Morgan I purchased from him... and I really like it. Hope he comes back.... Cheers, RickO

I always preferred the three-strikes-and-your-out policy.

I saw the thread and knew it was nothing but trouble.
I hope that they resolve there differences.
Broadstruck is one of the people that makes these boards special.

I hope that in the spirit of transparency, whenever an otherwise respectful member like Broadstruck has a temporary lapse in judgment and violates the rules, he should be called on it and all of us told why he is suspended for a week. This would help us all understand the boundaries we need to respect here and elevate the entire discussion.

His transgression is very different from a member who is a chronic offender, or one who is using the forum for a personal agenda.

It would be much easier for us if PCGS had a zero tolerance policy towards behavior on these boards. Break one of the rules and you're banned with no chance of coming back.

That's a little too unforgiving so we try to warn posters who transgress and end up sending PMs, deleting a lot of messages and/or threads, etc. We occasionally let someone back on after they have been banned, although their track record for repeat bannings is pretty bad. I call that babysitting.

No one was banned this past weekend that hadn't been given multiple warnings or some kind of a reprieve in the past. All this is done in private. None of you see the messages that go back and forth.

On the other hand, I constantly receive messages from board members who are upset with the language being used, or the innuendos, or generally the 8th grade humor that often pops up. Many potential contributors and interested parties leave here because of this. It is especially frustrating when YNs are involved and their parents are pulling them off the boards because a few posters act like idiots. I don't care how good a guy someone is - I have banned posters who I have been friendly with for years - you can't just say anything you want on the boards and not think of who might be reading it.

Every time we go through this we inch closer to a zero tolerance policy.

Not that this is necessarily what happened recently, but it seems like members self implode at times, like maybe they subconsciously feel they are way too wrapped up in the forums and they need time elsewhere---------------BigE
