Broadstruck and Broadstruck coins

erickso1erickso1 Posts: 1,705 ✭✭✭
One was bammed slightly off center at the mint.

The other was bammed.....? Not sure how/why that happened.

At least prior I could talk to and learn from the latter. Now all I can do is talk to the former, but he is just a coin.

He was always polite to me - more than I deserved at times. Actually, I was a real jerk to him.

Hope not, he knows more about some of my coins (pricing history) than I do.

Plus his funny photo archive is ginormous.

The second knowledable member to leave in the last six weeks or so. I will miss him, perhaps we should think of a new name for the "Copper for the Weekend" thread.

There were some OT threads last night about the appropriateness of certain adjectives when describing coins, and it looks like Broadstruck wasn't the only casualty, the OP in the main thread got the boot too.

I cannot say I feel sorry for the OP if the OP truly got the boot. Broadstruck, on the other hand, was a good guy and I will miss his posts here.

I think it was the "I hate the term sexy" thread.

    I missed the fun, too.

I hope broadstruck is given only a temporary bamming.

As for who I think the OP was, well... it appears the clip Type2 posted would probably apply there.

Didn't Anaconda start a thread with that title?
  • MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 35,929 ✭✭✭✭✭
    I was paraphrasing

    the title was:

"I really dislike it when someone calls a coin "sexy"... shows stupidity in my opinion....."

which may or may not have been found offensive to the modulators(just an opinion to me similar to overusing PQ, but the stupidity could have been left off), but I hear much worse talk went on in the thread.

    The thread is now poofed.

    Yes, it was Anaconda.
  • jhdflajhdfla Posts: 3,030 ✭✭✭
    I hope it's temporary.

I was on at that hour. Saw the thread.. I think the OP had crossed the line many times (in other threads), but I don't believe in bamming wholesome contributors like Broadstruck. Heck, I wouldn't have even banned the snake in the interest of lively discussion, but hey, what do I know.

    Is Sainty gone too?

Edited to add, "(in other threads)".

There are a lot of cliques whose replies can easily be misconstrued as banter and diatribe vs. good fun. A lot of people don't see the behind-the-scenes PMs in addition to the jokes in the threads. Some people take exception and report the threads. We all know I love levity... at least while I'm in the States. If you read the few posts I post while I'm at war, you'll notice they're more direct and contain very little humor. Do we cross the line... absolutely, but if we were all alike, this would be one boring world! I probably get away with a little more than most, since most people understand, after reading a few of my threads, that I'm making comment to either solicit thought or to redirect any attack toward myself. I'm kind of like the circus clown... I draw the bull to me so the "real" experts can get out of the line of fire and live another day to post their informative threads! image

Hopefully just a timeout. There's a big difference between getting caught up in the fun and putting a toe over the line vs consistently making a mockery of the Board.

While I saw the thread I didn't read thru it. However I enjoy reading Adrians threads in general and Frank is a heck of a positive contributor here. If any action really needs to be taken on these two valuable contributors, I personally hope it's just a temporary timeout for day or so as I think the forum loses something good from both these fellows.

Another one of the "good guys" are gone. Mark Feld and now Broadstruck. I for one am VERY sorry to hear of this. These two guys have earned not only my respect, but also my trust, and that's NOT an easy task for anyone.....Joe

One day about a year or so ago, my phone rang. The voice on the other end said : "You probably never expected this call. Do you know who this is ?" I was puzzled and asked him to do his best impersonation of someone I knew.

Then he started laughing and said : "it's ______ (his real name), and I just wanted to say hello".
I started image... and said "Who are you ? ", He said "Broadstruck, from the PCGS boards", and asked me not to tell his name and I said, "no problem, Broadstruck".
He had a lot of funny and informative posts here. Then again, I got along with YaHa and Biddlesbank , as well as with Feld, ksteelheader and Laura and labrams..., so I dunno what's going on around here.

We should post error coins to this thread, because I don't have any broadstruck ones.

  • It amazes me some of these idiots, a few, that should have been banned long ago, get to stay and lose it in the process taking 5-10 good board members with them? How many times has Anaconda been banned then allowed back?
