Forum Hats and Tee Shirts

CoinosaurusCoinosaurus Posts: 9,645 ✭✭✭✭✭
When I was setup at Baltimore, I was surprised, verily amazed at the number of table visitors who identified themselves as forum members.

Perhaps if we commissioned some hats or other swag we could meet (or avoid, if you prefer) even more forum members at shows.

Sorry, but I don't wear coin related clothing. It just puts a target on your back that I choose to avoid.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Isnt the fact that you're at a coin show a target enough?

I had a bunch of coin t-shirts made when I was at Heritage 20 years ago. I'm not saying who bought one from me but I will tell you that only a few of the grunts who were in non numismatic related activities in the company that didn't. image

Then again I used to have pizza fedexed to me from New Jersey at Heritage too. Hey, when ya gotta have the best, there's fedex.

Neat thing about a hat is that you can TAKE IT OFF very easily image
I had the CRO hat on at the last show and it made it easy for some folks to spot me.
The other neat thing about the CRO hat is that people outside of the show (even most at the show image ) didn't know it was coin-related.

Not like it is a NEON "I collect coins and so probably have money on me.....attack at will!" sign image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

A number of years ago PCGS produced pins which could be worn to show you were a member here. As I recall, they were free, but you had to pick them up at Long Beach or one of the other major shows (which was why I never received one).

If I'm carrying a lot of cash, I get a little paranoid going back and forth to the hotel. So, I kind of agree with Bill. But maybe slap on name tags with our forum "handles" would be fun.

Maybe if we all wore matching Leisure Suits and wrote our forum name on the name tag.....kinda non-descript like!

I thought about doing up a 19Lyds shirt since its non-identifiable except for folks that post here or there but whats the point?

If forum members wnat you to know who they are they'll tell you. Sometimes the folks you tell don't have a clue what you're talking about though since they're not in "Forum Mode" but "Coin Seller Mode" which at $850-$1200 a table is perfectly understandable.

Coin Sellers could always put up a little sign at their tables if they wanted to but I don't think they're really there for idle chit-chat.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I agree, maybe a T-shirt in partnership with the Glock Talk forum would work.

Yes, that is a concern, but when I leave the show I make sure that the name tag, the glass I wear around my neck and any materials I might have picked up at the show are stowed away. Yes, going to shows is always a risk, but wearing a tee shirt or hat with coins on it when you come or go to a show is like wearing billboard. That I will avoid.

As much as I like the CRO duo I don't see the satisfaction of granting them free advertising by wearing their apparel.

You can always wear these otherwise non-descript items:

    (1) CU cap

    (2) CU hoodie

    (3) I heart CU cap

    Identified but not really. image

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • keyman64keyman64 Posts: 15,548 ✭✭✭✭✭
Maybe I will make one that says "One of the Cool Kids from CU"...and then everyone will want one. image

I will try to remember to bring some colored 3/4" stickers to the CSNS show that people can stop by and pick up. I will also try to remember to bring a fine-point Sharpie™ so that members of the Circle of Trust™ can discretely add the CoT logo that has been approved for public display to their stickers.
