Barber Twenty Cents Piece

FilamCoinsFilamCoins Posts: 1,901 ✭✭✭

Please post a nice 20c piece you own.

IMHO, these are really hard to find with strong luster, nice color and great eye appeal. Right up there with Trade and Seated Dollars for level of difficulty. Most I've come across are either darkly toned or dull gray.

What's been your experience?

I've never liked the design. Liberty looks like she has lost all her teeth.

Rich Uhrich has a Nevada State Museum restrike of the 76-CC 20c, restruck from the original (now highly corroded) dies. Neat item.

The only one I have at the moment is this bright white 1875-S in PCGS MS-64. The purists don't like it because it has been dipped, but it is very stable (I've owned it for over 10 years), and the luster is strong.

    Thanks for the pics guys.

After a few years of searching, I think I've settled on this one for the type set. The fields are clean for the grade and the lighter, well-struck devices give the coin an ever so slight cameo look. Some subtle coloring and decent luster round off a pretty good type example.

You've ruined this coin for me. I had never noticed the no teeth look, that's now all I can see. image
