While I appreciate the collectibility of the Bullion First Strike™ slabs, I just cannot feel the same about opening the program up to every single proof the US Mint makes. I hope it doesn't affect the Silver Eagle Collectibility.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
<< <i>Since the entire "first strike" business is meaningless, why would a change affect anything? >>
Meaningless? Hardly! If it were meaningless they wouldn't have expanded the "program." It means tens of thousands of dollars to PCGS' bottom line and the market pays extra for these labels. It may be meaningless to some but it has a tremendous meaning to many, sad but true.

You neglected the primary reason. More attractive label (labels do increase the resale value of so called "Modern Junk") & FS labels, in most cases, have a higher resale value over the same non FS labeled coins.
"Bongo drive 1984 Lincoln that looks like old coin dug from ground."
Yep. I have a set of the 2010 Silver Proof America The Beautiful First Strike PCGS DCAM 70 First Strikes I purchased last year. If they are inexpensive, I will buy them. Debating if I want to collect the whole series in FS PCGS DCAM 70s though. These definitely will be common. Looking at the dramatic drop in the DCAM 70 Silver State Quarters prices I will not pay high prices for the ATB Silver Proof DCAM 70 series.

You can expect the same for literally ANY US Proof coin.

Evidently, PCGS has "adapted" their First Strike™ policies.

If one has such a program, why restrict it to any certain type of coin?

It's not just the proofs.
The unc. are getting it, too.
