I don't like either one. Maybe he bought both of them from the same person. I think that the odds of these being natural are less than slim considering these facts: Two raw coins with similar color by the same seller and the color on both is a funky purple/blue/magenta surrounded by light blue/lime green/yellow. Also, is there really a "Funland, USA"?
Too many red flags for me to take those coins seriously. Nice photos though!

<< <i>It looks like an ugly AT coin to me, which services as flypaper for those who are addicted to "monster toned coins." >>
Unfortunately, you are right. Coins like that are swiped up by newbies looking for alot of color for a little money. Seasoned toned coin collectors that have done their homework, on the other hand, would stay away from coins like this. The problem is that some of those new collectors that get trapped with this stuff feel, as they should, SCREWED when they finally hear from a knowledgeable collector or dealer that they bought AT, and they might leave the hobby for good. I'm working on something right now that will help curb the problem, at least from the know what you are buying standpoint. The more people with toning common sense, the less AT coins will be bought. Hopefully.
<< <i>IT looks like the "real deal" to me - real deal AT, that is. >>
Another "tell" is like another poster said.... when you have more than one coin toned very much like another, it begs AT! I have quite a few PCGS toned Washingtons, and none of them are toned nearly identically! This guy has two Frankies that are quite a bit alike! "Just Say No!" to AT...........

While I believe the pictured coin is AT, I disagree with the above statement to a certain extent. Coins that tone in the same environment often will show comparable toning. It is fairly common for Franklins from the same mint set card to have the same sort of toning.

Is this real toning? Retoning under normal circumstances? Artificial toning? I would say that they are properly called cleaned and retoned, though probably not "shake-N-bake".
