Silver Eagle Set

A friend of mine has a complete set for sale of Silver Eagle 1986-2005 + 2007. What would be a fair price to buy them from him for?

Depends on how complete? Uncircs or proofs? Include rare 95 W proof? Include West Point W m/m uncircs? Graded or raw?

Need a lot more information (as derryb pointed out). Also what grades and what TPG? Cheers, RickO

I have added pictures that he sent me. They appear to be Unc. they are raw not graded and does not have the 95W. I know the pictures are not the greatest.

Since they are bullion, I would suggest you post your inquiry at the PM forum..

Sorry about posting it here. I thought that silver eagles were US Coins but I am new to collecting.

  • Well, they are coins and we're talking about these as part of a set that's been collected. I think you were right in posting here, Gene.

Should be worth close to spot price for each or maybe more. Some are a little rarer than others if I remember.

Thanks. I like to post here and gain information from people that have been doing this longer that I have been alive but sometimes I feel like no matter where I post something it not the right place to some people.

    Gene,
I think posting here is fine. You're inquiry is about a set, which just happens to be bullion. I think a fair price for both of you would be spot plus $2.50 for all but the 1996. With silver at $29.91, that would value each coin today at $32.41. For the 96, I think $45 would be fair.

Hey OPA , the biggest thread on the forum concerns ATB coins, which are bullion, so it appears your point is invalid.

    I count 22 eagles (count the 1996 as an extra eagle) for a total of 23 = $715 ($31 per) + $10-15 for the Album = $725.

Anything around that is a solid price.

    Loves me some shiny!

Like Andrew said, $2.50 over spot per coin.

The 1996 is the key. They used to run north of $60image

Never could understand the premium on the 96. While it is the lowest mintage thus far they still minted 3,603,386 of them.
