Opinions on These Engelhard Bars

At first glance I thought this was just another poured P series 10oz bar. I've seen hundreds of this type bar but I've never seen a two alpha prefix before.
This looks like it was made this way. The letters are equal depth and the tonning is consistant into the deep parts of the letters. Has anyone seen this
before? I've only seen two alpha prefixs on 1 oz bars.

This second bar was purchased from the same B&M two weeks later. This is a poured bar with a very low serial number with a C prefix.
I can't recall any Engelhard poured bar with a C prefix. The low number suggests a low production run. It's very crude so it wouldn't be
surprising very few were made. (C = crude, crummy)

Any info on when these were made would be appreciated. These weigh and assay out correctly, but is someone messing around?

I do not recall seeing either that 25 ouncers or a 10 ouncer with a two-letter prefix.

Never saw a 25 oz like that either. On the 10s I never really took note of the serial numbers. Next time I visit my silver I will check as I have quite a few of the pillow Engelhard 10 ozers

All my pillow bars just have a "P" serial #'s.

Completely bogus. Send them to me with a $10 processing fee and I'll dispose of them properly.

Putting this next to a P type bar I can see that the logo border and lettering are narrower on the EP bar. The serial number on the EP was shifted to the right to keep it centered.
They are exactly the same size even though that isn't obvious in the pictures.

ok, this is way out there thinking. The (10 oz.) bar was stolen, but the theif had sense enough to alter to the serial number before cashing it in at their local coin shop. The last 4 doesn't look in line as all the other letters & numbers and the E looks like there was something above it.
I know i'm really reaching but I think it should be considered.

The 25 oz'er is very cool.

That is the flat of the serial punch. It's common on the older stamped bars. You can see the same effect in the top left of this group

Though these bars tend to have a seven-character serial number consisting of one letter followed by six digits, that upper left bar shows that the numbering wheel has eight characters. There is a blank space indented into the bar at the left end.

The bar with the two letters is presumably an operator setup error, though I doubt if we will ever know for certain.

I still think it is kewl!
