That that is someone who thinks ahead.
<< <i>I hope no one expects these to be of the same quality as coins. The size alone should indicate they will not be of 'proof' quality. Cheers, RickO >>
I would hope for some level of quality control on the unc. collector versions being released after the first of the year.

A photo in Coin World showed them being dropped into tubes. I can't beging to imagine what that would do to the surface of a 5 ounce coin not to mention a slight tilt and having a sharp reeded edge hit the surface.
The name is LEE!
<< <i>I would not be surprised in the least.

I'm sure grades of 67/68, and not many 69's 70 would be a miracle.
But, I was wondering how can you tell they are being dropped from a still photo?? Plus, I believe they have a smooth surface, since they have an edge inscription.
<< <i>You can pretty much bet that the coins we order from the bullion dealers will be bottom of the barrel, so this thread is probably very appropriate. The nice ones are probably already on their way to the TPGs to get slabbed. >>

Simple, the photograph shows the mint worker holding the 10 coin tube on the table while reaching for another coin to drop in.
November 1 Coin World, page 86 screen print:
As for the reeded edge, ooops. It'll still scrape the coins on the bottom of the tube.

i never saw that pic. I'm sure quality will not be there for most of them, too.
wish i could see the rest of that screen shot....
glad I'm first on that one.
<< <i>No worries just use it as a pocket peice.

Mine have milk spots.
We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.

I knew APMEX would send us the beat up ones and slab the 70s!
<< <i>interesting...., mint employee is wearing gloves , but not PCGS folks ! >>
How many 2010 ATB pucks did you return?

And it also makes a great paperweight!

Self defense weapon comes to mind too. Then again, you wouldn't want to ruin the proof surfaces

Great idea. Despite the ultra-rip off APMEX prices, I'll bet (as other have said before me) that the first 1000K will be culled C___. I think that this thread will get plenty of action (unfortunately).

I nthought they had a lettered edge?

Pretty soon this comment might make sense, once the coins are actually released to the official distributors....
Yosemite has a small mark in the field and a few tiny ones on the edge
overall, they are an ok set.
I'm surprised that everyone is pretty much accepting of what they get now. I guess the chance of obtaining any is making people happy.
<< <i>interesting...., mint employee is wearing gloves , but not PCGS folks ! >>
that's because PCGS folks know how to handle a coin by its edges. Working with cotton gloves causes coins to get dropped.

Yosemite has a milk spot.

This is an old thread started before they wqere released.
I'm surprised no one is complaining. I just wanted to post the latest news on mine. a few marks here and there.... and the first reported milk spot. I feel so special.
otherwise, no one is really complaining about what they get. Surprising, huh?
<< <i>upon closer examination, I think I have a first...
Yosemite has a milk spot.
Hey does GW's Cheek on your Yosemite have a spot on it? Most of them do so I'm curious how yours looks.

They'll have to bring back OddJob in the next Bond movie so he can utilize these.

I have 2 Yosemite's that have the Cheek Milk Spot. No pics because they are at PCGS. The spots look identical.

They should be holding raw coins over a padded tray in any event. Right?

I would prefer PCGS hold mine over empty MS70 slabs....just in case.

I've observed that spot consistently in the same place on several, including some graded by NGC as 68's...I'm thinking it's not a milk spot and perhaps some sort of die flaw.
