For those interested in learning more... This is the first post about these fakes from nearly 3 years ago on Net54
Net54 Craigslist Fakes... Goudey Ruth, Bowman Mantle, T206 Cobb, '54 Aaron, etc.

PS. The best place to look for these fakes is the flips BAR CODE, As the title of the link shows..... There are far more CL Fakes in PSA holders than just the Aaron Rookie!
If you go to page 5 of the link above there is still a picture with a few of the CL Fakes PSA flips lined up and you can see the Scan Bars are all the same.

Bump for the scam auction ending tonight.....

What really infuriates me is that people think I am warning others so I can win this item at a cheap price. I am really just warning people because I hate to see people get scammed for almost $2,000!!!

Hello, ive been looking for a nice 1954 Aaron. Could you tell me how nice the corners are? I am very interested in this card. thanks. PS.....In the future it might be a good idea not to post others comments on your listing. It might scare people to bid on your items. The latest ebay scam is people sending messages saying your items are fake/no good, so other potential bidders will either not bid or bid lower on your item so the scammers can get your card at a lower price. Another scam from ebay losers is asking for you to end your item early at lowball prices.

so here's a scary thought....does the "sale" of this card @ $1375 get legitimized by VCP if completed without further incident, thereby dragging down the values of the other recently transacted PSA 7's which sold for 1800 bucks or more?

Scammers come out on ebay at holiday season like parasitic bedbugs come out right before dawn. The seller might even receive a "positive" because the buyer, getting a holiday gift for a family member, receives the item and doesn't know any better...and possibly the family member getting the gift isn't aware of this either...and unfortunately they are happy, until they find out the truth sometime later. By then, it's probably too late for a PayPal refund.

BTW: my apologies to bedbugs for comparing them to ebay scammers.

Because of unethical conduct by some sellers I instructed family members not to purchase cards as gifts for me.

VCP has recorded the sale of the fake Aaron rookie in the PSA 7. I have alerted him. Hopefully he will do the right thing and take it down, as I don't think a fake card should count as a "real" sale.....

I contacted PSA customer service with the info

I emailed the winning bidder. If others did as well, that might make him raise an eyebrow to "Hey - maybe I did just lose $1,400!"....that is exactly the kind of situation Joe O was talking about in the new issue of SMR (The one with Joe DiMaggio on the cover, in case not everyone has it yet).....

I also notice the he mainly buys modern stuff. Hardly any vintage at all (except an Oscar Robertson rookie card). Maybe he just doesn't have much experience in vintage to realize a fake when it is staring him in the face....

    The buyer responded back.....

i really appreciate the message. thanks. i am glad there are people like you monitoring these fake cards out there. i was very lucky. the seller shipped the card and then informed me of the fake and refunded my money the day after auction closed. i made sure my account was credited. when i got the card, i knew it was a fake after some research. i was greatful for the prompt refund and honesty with the seller. thanks to a few ebay watchers like you, i kept my $1375. thank you.

I contacted PSA about this the day of the auction. They said they would contact Ebay about the bad auction. I have to send mine in for a reholder with a new cert #

So is the seller an 'honest ebayer' or simply someone that got caught?

    Good for you.
  • I was the "winner" of the ebay Hank Aaron PSA 7. I am truly grateful for all of you that contacted me and the seller. The fake was obvious AFTER i got the card and examined it. The printing was bad, the reverse was fliped 180 degrees, and all the other things i should have been looking for. This was an education, but I'm glad it wasn't a costly one. Thanks to you, the seller promptly refunded my money. I also kept scans of the card and contacted ebay and PSA. I will continue to monitor this site and keep myself informed. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL THAT HELPED ME KEEP MY $1375.
