I try to be realistic.
Buy this and i'm done (well out of funds), anything else next year is a bonus frankly.
Realistically, just add some more Bust Dimes to the old collection and grab some more "other stuff"
Uh, yeah. Right.

<< <i>Start a successful petition to send to Congress to outlaw and punish those importing the Chinese counterfeits. >>
This would be a huge accomplishment and one the numismatic world (US and otherwise) would salute you for.
<< <i>Sell all of the excess coins and exonumia that I have been meaning to sell. >>
This is an outstanding goal! I did this about 10 years ago and it was enormously pleasing. Besides the idea that I've now released some items that others could own I was surprised by how much money I actually received for everything. Within days I used those new found funds to acquire a number of coins I still happily own today.
<< <i>Which ones? >>
1874-cc
1873-cc, but I forget if it's the arrows or no arrows I need. They're locked up in the bank right now.
Maybe the 1877-cc, but that's easy.
They're all low grade, like F02 through VG.

I have to admit that as much as I enjoy purchasing/owning coins, I like reading about them even more.

<< <i>My goal is to figure out a goal. With my set complete I'm confused what's next. >>
A second set? Varieties? Roosies?
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.

(2) Squirrel away more Silver bullion.
(3) Add more XF-AU Morgans to my bag of 1,000.
That's it...everything else is just a bonus!
If I get really motivated...submit my first article to The Numismatist, but I see that more as a 2012 thing, than 2011.
In ice hockey a "hat trick" is scoring three goals in a game by the same player - something very unusual and special. Hence, a 2011 goal for me is attaining something very unusual or very special.
2) 55ddo lincoln for <$3k
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
Finish my silver 1877 GB silver set - 1 coin(Crown)

Let me know if you want me to pick you up anything in NZ. I plan to catch a game or 2 on the South Island in Sept.

Specific is exactly what I was looking for. My general goal (as of 2001) is to put together a complete date/mm set of MS buffalo nickels in 10 years which would put my deadline at the end of 2011. Because I only have 54 out of the 64 coins necessary to accomplish this goal, I doubt I'll be finished in time. But the chase will continue until I am finished.
Specific goal for 2011 is to purchase one of the following dates: 1918-S, 1921-S or 1924-S. Each would be a major purchase if I can find a suitable example.
<< <i>Acquire some dirty gold coins for my collection. Add to the "roll" of 1850 $20's. Avoid dust-ups on the forum. Meet Longacre at a coin show. Get some more gold stickers on my slabs. Sell all of the excess coins and exonumia that I have been meaning to sell. >>
I did pretty well.
I acquired some great dirty gold coins. Check.
I did add and then subtracted to my "roll" of 1850 $20's. I am down to four coins. Check, uncheck.
Avoid dust-ups on the forum. Check, mostly.
Get some more gold stickers. Check.
Sell all the excess coins. Check.
Meet Longacre at a coin show. No check.
<< <i>Get to at least one Parsippany coin show. It was my goal for 2010, didn't do it. Won't be at tomorrow's, either. Maybe next month.
That's it...everything else is just a bonus!
If I get really motivated...submit my first article to The Numismatist, but I see that more as a 2012 thing, than 2011. >>
Nope. I'm going to carry it over into 2012 and hope third time's the charm.
An important goal for 2012 will be to read them.

<< <i>A major goal for 2011 was to make meaningful expansions to my numismatic literature collection. Done--I bought ca. 100 auction catalogs (dated 1882-1960) and about 30 books. >>
That was impressive. Nice job.
