I thought he was one of the survivors that ended up getting buried, from the plane that crashed on the US Canadian border.
He was in way over his head anyway. He couldn't handle the job.
Worst Director ever.
This gives an indication of how much skill the guy had - he couldn't even deal with a problem of his own making.
I knew it would happen.
Moy Will Depart for Position in Private Sector
WASHINGTON, Dec. 20, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Director of the United States Mint Edmund C. Moy announced today that he has submitted his resignation to President Barack Obama. He also informed Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner and Treasurer of the United States Rosie Rios of his resignation, effective January 9, 2011. Moy has accepted a position in the private sector.
Moy was sworn in as 38th Director of the United States Mint in September 2006 after being appointed by President George W. Bush for a five-year term. Prior to assuming his duties as Director of the Mint, Moy was a Special Assistant to President Bush for Presidential Personnel.
In his remarks to all Mint employees about his departure, Moy praised their performance during his tenure. "I'm proud of the progress we've made over four and a half years. The Mint is a better place and delivering more value to the American taxpayers. The foundation has been rebuilt and the work is now in your capable hands," he said. "Please know that I will always remember my being Director of the United States Mint as a special time in my life."
Prior to his public service in the White House and Mint, Moy spent eight years working with venture capital firms and entrepreneurs. From 1989 to 1993, he served President George H. W. Bush as a political appointee at the federal Health Care Financing Administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He has also served as a sales and marketing executive for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wisconsin.
Moy graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1979 with a triple major in economics, international relations and political science. He and his wife Karen have a daughter, Nora.

60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!

It's a shame he wasn't more proactive but this is par for the course. It's better to toe the
line and maintain the status quo than to buck the system and fail. Congress and his bosses
need the bulk of the blame for what he did.

Worst? I vote for Stella Hackel, for destroying decades of Mint correspondence.
I think Moy is one our better mint directors if only because he was responsible for the MMIX Ultra High Relief $20 - a numismatic gift to us collectors. Who else has done something like that? Maybe Snowden and Linderman, who made restrikes for collectors. The production problems with the hockey pucks can't be blamed on him personally. Web site crashes might be a problem that he didn't anticipate. The recent pricing problems for the hockey pucks are due to his not paying close enough attention to the market, but is not something he could anticipate and change ahead of time. Perhaps not getting the Proof silver eagles out in 2009 is his fault. Perhaps because he was not paying attention to gaps in the production line
My only hope his that he'll give a candid interview regarding the events of November 2004 after he leaves office.

He'll probably get 80% of his salary, adjusted for inflation for life. The first installment will be immediate, in the form of 5 oz pucks, under the table (form an AP who seems to like that business model- who has not remained nameless in the big puck thread...).
