What is hobby number two? Or maybe coins is hobby two.

What do you do outside of coin collecting?

I'm a bicycle riding, running, scuba diving, camera collecting nut. Carry a camera almost everywhere.

Few years ago I was a chip eating, remote control operating guru. Doctor told me when I was 40 I'd never see 50. Stupid doctor. I got off the couch one day, lost 100 lbs. and now I can't tolerate just laying around anymore. Today was supposed to be a rest day for me but I'm suited up to run an easy 3 or 4 miles and will go to the local park later to break in a couple of new cameras I just got this week.

Outside of silver art bar collecting and hobo nickel collecting, I like to read novels and take long walks outside when the weather is nice. I also like to post on message boards on things that are not coin collecting related.
DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a '70's silver art bar expert but I try my best to play one on the Internet.

I do a lot of shooting and woodworking, as well as golf every week. Coins are certainly number 1 in terms of money spent.

I collect a lot of weird cr@p, but another biggie hobby for me is my Bonsai collection.

I grew/trained bonsai about 20 years ago and gave away my collection when I moved, but
the bug bit again a few years back and I now have over 3 dozen trees I tend to daily.
Very time consuming but totally rewarding.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Larry I am perfectly content to stay inside the wire. Only been outside of the wire once with the exception of helo rides around country.

Went to a place called Sahl Singar in Iraq and I know I probably spelled that wrong. No wire. No real perimeter. Nothing happened but it was a little surreal. My military time consisted of riding Nuke Carriers.

Good on you for getting back home in the next week or so. Thanks for doing what you do.

I've been through a dozen hobbies including running competitively, triathlon, mountaineering, skiing, rock climbing, astronomy, home shop machining, wine collecting, and probably a few other that escape me right now. Currently, because my son is a golf nut, that is my number one hobby. Index 5.2.

Ditto on the hot sauce. I love trying new hot sauces. Oddly enough while there are untold thousands of sauces with all kinds of catchy names, for everyday use I prefer good old store bought Crystal hot sauce.

Handicapping and betting horseraces has been number one for years. My interest has waned there, though. The advent of pharmacological technology has "altered the surface" of racing much like coin doctors have affected this hobby. Now, it's projects around the property, hunting, camping, grandkids when they're here.

    Hi,

I collect, authenticate and sell: Cunard memorabilia from the Mauretania & Lusitania including bits of the ships themselves, vintage Hollywood and theatre autographs, New York World's Fair 1939 Kodachrome candid 35 mm slides & b/w and hand colored prints of same. I also paint miniatures in handmade oils on black walnut panels, large scale acrylic reduction canvases, I do some research into passenger liners, provide images, research, consultation, layout and covers for books, digital restorations for museums (new exhibit and book out now in D.C.)...more....a lot. image Oh, and I like Proof coins 1938-1941!

I think perhaps I need a vacation. I think, maybe, I might have spread myself too thin....

I am into golf, guns, and Harleys. I try to go shoot sporting clays or 5 stand once a week. Golf is the most frustrating thing I have ever done, yet I can't wait to go the next time.

Other than the above I can sit on the front porch of my cabin looking at the mountains for hours on end.

I used to drag race [quarter mile] quite a bit and that was number one. Sold the race car and got back into coins. So the coins are number one now.
Stamps are number two. Some of my stamps are truly beautiful. Some are very old. Not too many people into stamps anymore.

Coins are secondary to photography now for me.

I especially like lenses and lens testing (have about 55-60 at present). That has also led into studying about lens design and trying to understand it. Lens design is one of the most complicated subjects that I have ever seen, insanely complex. I may need to go back and try to learn some of the higher math involved.
