It would be very cool if everyone used a coin image as an avatar

RYKRYK Posts: 35,801 ✭✭✭✭✭
I would like to think that each person has a coin photo that represents him or her as a collector. I was looking at a PM exchange between myself and Boiler and could not get over how cool it looked, alternating my artistic dirty gold image with his killer pattern. See below.

I realize that this is unrealistic. In fact, many come over from the sports or currency forums where they have a primary interest. I just think it would improve the aesthetics of the threads.

it would just mess me up even more. I hate it when the 14th or 15th of the month rolls around and everyone starts changing up everything, I can't keep up with anybody. I've had the same avatar for 4 years now. I know everyone's tired of looking my ugly hulk negative, but I guarantee that the 2 people who know me on the boards would be mighty upset if I changed it every month.

My F-5 in an aileron roll represents my earlier days as an F-4 driver. Coins are great . . . and coins represent this Board, but I'm not giving it up. We all bring a history here in addition to our collewcting . . . and this is mine.

Wow. Lots of non coin images here. I'd say you should get a good PM discussion going with lakesamman next. I have better photos of my avatar but I've always used this one and by using a crappy photo, none of the newbies grab it. --Jerry

If you JUST uploaded it you'll have to wait for the 15th of October to change to it.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I uploaded it a coupled of months ago and used it for a while.
Now it's not working anymore but the icon name is in the list.

I think everyone should have a coin avatar too, but at the very least, keep one and don't change it.

My avatar shows Winston Churchill, one of my heroes --- a great wartime leader, as well as a multi-talented journalist, artist, writer, and historian. It also illustrates one of my non-numismatic hobbies (cigars). Plus it's a coin! What more could you ask for?
