    Brownie points?

    Moderator status?

Looking at the OP sig lines and icons, you get a ton of free advertisement and present your views on others. What is the difference?

I agree with RYK, GO STEELERS!!!! As far as political posts go on the threads, it is election time and some people can’t resist. If you don’t like what you’re reading, don’t read it. IMHO Realone’s response was 4 star +

<I agree in that these semi-political threads are better situated in the precious metals forum. There is no need to get political parties or political figures in the middle here.

By the way, we all rant or did rant at some point in our numismatic lives here. Including me>

We don't want any semi-political threads bringing us down on our PM Forum. Instead you can send a hot chick or two over every once in awhile. Prolly wouldn't kill you to that. We only want full blown. political rantings no holds barred when we tango on the PM Forum. Weve even have allowed for tridents to be used on special occasions.......................Please leave the mamby pamby semi stuff within the great walls of the US COIN FORUM and jamboreeimage

Out of respect for the members I've always kept my political opinions to myself.
I don't expect y'all to live by my standards and I won't live by yours. It's a free country, a free board, and a sunny day in the NW.

On the other side of the coin, by skipping all the political posts on the COIN FORUM in the last few weeks I've saved enough time to learn how to play the banjo, the oboe, and the didgeridoo. image

It's amazing how many people are agreeing to a rant about something so innocuous. When I read the OPs post, it appeared to me to be an attempt to control others. If his intent was to ask his peers to be a little more considerate of others (specifically, himself), he could have written "Can we please limit the political commentary?" as a reply to one of the supposed political threads. To create a new thread and then to write a dissertation about politics condemning those writing about politics... well, that appears bumptious and controlling.

The supposed political postings (maybe .001% of all postings in the Coin Forum) combined haven't raised as many feathers as the OPs posting. If one of my employees came into my office and delivered the rant of the OP, I'd give them the deer in the headlight look and consider firing them since their banter was drivel and meant to incite... if one of my employees came into my office and mentioned my business (hobby) was going to be affected by the new proposed 1099 law, I'd listen intently and may make an innocuous political comment during our bilateral exchange. It's a reality of life.
