I buy one about every other year. I own probably 7 or 8. I give them away to new collectors usually otherwise I'd own alot more!!

I only own 5 or 6. I own the reprint of the 1947 edition, one for the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2009. I buy one every several years and then give the old to Goodwill. The only reason I keep the ones from the 70s, 80s, and 90s is for comparison purposes.

A good half dozen that I know of, a few got packed in boxes when we moved in 1983, I saw the box the other day out in the garage, it's labeled "BOOKS"

Does anyone have ones without the spiral?

    1957
    1978
    2008

Kinda interesting comparing prices 1957 vs 2008 ...........................image

NE shilling in fine $300/ $115,000 fine
    1956 Flying eagle cent in proof $425/ $20,000 pf63
    1796 quarter unc $425/ $100,000 ms63
    1836 Gobrecht dollar proof $450/ $25,000 pf60
    1794 dollar unc $2,500/ $650,000 ms60
    1795 gold eagle unc $375/ $275,000 ms63

Of course they only listed one grade for unc coins back in 1957 but still fun to look back.

    Just a 1961.

Like so many here, I give last years away when I replace it.

  • 1947 (both, 1st and 2nd editions) thru 2006, minus the third and fifth editions. Nothing less than xf+ condition. It IS for sale (though, I'm not actively pursuing it's sale). I might get aroung to picking up 1949 and 1951-52 someday image

Several hundred but I'm not a collector. I give them away but the cost of shipping has made that a bit tough.

1 which was a gift. Since they no longer mint Morgans, I see little point in getting current issues.

1991, 1997, 2009. Had several earlier versions along the way but those were given away. My first was in 1963 or 1964.

ONE, I use it for reference and not pricing.
  • I've got one from 1998, as a reference but not a price guide. It's disturbing to look at how the prices changed so much since then!

For pricing, I use the PCGS guide here as a starting point, recognizing that it tends to run high, as it's more on par with retail prices--I can often get closer to wholesale from vendors at coin shows. Heritage lets you look at, side-by-side, prices from PCGS, Numismedia, and Coin World magazine.

I believe we have four scattered throughout our library. At the latest local show i found a first edition, second printing, that I bought. Not in the greatest of shape but I figured the price was good enough that if nothing else it's a cool topper to the bookshelf image

A few months back i counted 10 of them, i am pretty sure that i have only bought 2 of them. I bought one that was not sprial bound and it drove me nuts until i bought one. Heritage mailed me 3 hardcover redbooks (all the same year, i think they somehow made a shipping error on 2) I may have 5 fingered one or 2 USED ones, some got left in the truck from riding together to shows and no one claimed them.

I love those 2 inch black slide out magnifiers, at one point i had 8 or 9 of those. I am now down to 2. Maybe some of my frieds traded their redbooks for 1 of the magnifiers and forgot to inform me of the trade.

I bought one of those 70 dollar signed, limited edition redbooks a few years back. I managed to sell it for 90 bucks. I never opened it, i am glad i do not own that now. I feel blessed to have not taken a bath on that one. I bought it off of a TV show.

One. The price info is useless, so why own more than one?
