He has too many "http" in there. Just copy the link and paste into a new browser rather than clicking on his.
It's just a 3rd reich coin that he has a problem with TT selling.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
<< <i>I believe these are illegal to own in Germany >>
They are NOT illegal to own in Germany, just illegal to sell in online venues etc.

ANY representation of the Swastika is illegal in Germany and WILL get you arrested.
Are you sure about that SaorAlba since I am under the impression that the Swastika was outlawed in any form in Germany?
From this web page:
"In Germany, a country where school children are confronted with the lessons of World War II on a regular basis and go on field trips to concentration camps, the swastika is already banned. The use of the Nazi greeting "Heil Hitler" is also against the law as is owning Adolf Hitler's ranting anti-Semitic book, "Mein Kampf." All are seen as provocative, knee-jerk symbols inappropriate for a nation trying to heal itself of past mistakes."

<< <i>Are we really going to have another 'debate' about German coinage from the World War 2 era? >>
Yep...comes around every few months. I don't agree with what was done in that period of history, but I ain't going to get on my high horse to make a big stink about the coins sold in a venue that had nothing to do with the atrocity.

Collectibles are exempt form the anti-Nazi laws the rest is true but not heavily enforced.
I was talking my distaste for nazi paraphenalia with a local B&M guy who also deals in all kinds of collectibles... we are both of Jewish decsent... anyway, he told me that he has has alot of collectors over the years looking for nazi stuff... coins, medals, etc... and they were all Jewish...
go figure...
I agree with the comment on the history of southern gold too, one of the only areas of US coinage I really like.
<< <i>Not the coins fault if was used for nefarious purposes by evil men. A similar correlation could be drawn by our own southern gold and it's logical connection to the slave trade but that isn't what coin collecting is about. I feel coins are just a window into the past and not an endorsement, wright, wrong or indifferent and while those coins were around during a dark time a lot of good came from the 30s-40's and that coin just tells its part of the story. There are no "great American" triumphs with out great obstacles. >>
I'll second that.
<< <i>Those who forget the past are destined to repeat it. >>
Or is it, those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it? Either way, I'm with you.
Lance.
Just think how much power you have right now in the design of the coins being minted today.
<< <i>file this under the "strange but true"... or so it seems...

At the huge Sunday fleamarket in Madrid known as El Rastro, there were many Nazi era military ribbons and knicknacks for sale. I was familiar with the Nazi assistance to Franco, but did not get why all of the monuments and the knicknacks were still around. I supose this stuff has historical significance, but I certainly wouldn't buy any of it.
In a related matter, references to Il Duce, the song 'Giovinezza,' etc. are officially banned in Italy, but this doesn't seem to be enforced to any extent.

"Sou Mangueira......."

Which is why we're constantly chasing our tails.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
<< <i>As a newly minted Spanish-speaking college graduate, I was off to España. General Franco was still around, and I have never seen so much Nazi parapheralia, monuments, etc. in one place before or since. There were many monuments to Nazis who died in the Spanish Civil War on streets in the major cities, a major thoroughfare in Barcelona was "Avenida de la Division Azul," etc.

The "Division Azul" (Blue Division) was made up of Spanish volunteers and was part of the German Army (not the SS). It fought on the Eastern Front until withdrawn by Franco in 1943. It was considered to be a very high quality fighting force and its members earned many German military awards.
That is probably why you saw so many German military items in Spain.
It's not quite as closed off as one would believe - but the policies are very nuanced.
<< <i>Since you brought it up, I wonder how people in my area justify owning Benzs’ and Beemers. >>
We could also include VWs, Mitsubitshis, etc.
<< <i>I don't see the outrage. If I were interested in world war 2 history, I would happily add such a coin to my collection. It's a coin, a piece of history, and owning or selling it isn't condoning the ideas of it's creators. >>
I collect airship memorabilia. Once the Nazis came to power they painted swastikas on the tail fins of the Graf Zeppelin, and Hindenburg and Graf Zeppelin 2 had them when they were built. They were then used for propaganda purposes, dropping leaflets and going on publicity tours, not to mention carrying passengers to/from the US and South America. I have a lot of original photos on my wall of the Graf and Hindenburg. Sometimes, company will ask why I have them up. I tell them about Dr. Hugo Eckener, who ran the German Zeppelin company and piloted the Graf around the world in 1929. He was an outspoken critic of the Nazis, and was eventually declared a non-person by Goerbbles. The only reason he didn't die in a concentration camp is because at the time, he was one of the most famous people in the world, and Hitler would've had to explain why he disappeared. I tell them that to me, it's about the work that he did, the technological innovations, and the history of the airships. The swastika is an unfortunate part of that history, but can't simply be disregarded if one wishes to collect airship memorabilia.
