    Polyvinylchloride, Verdigris, OVERDIPPING,

What is it that we do to coins which will eventually lead to the "bodybad, or genuine holder". Come on... it ain't that tough to answer the question. It's a coin forum.

edit to add : MY BAD, I meant "bodybag".

Even if they were reminted, the original coins are still gone. I was primarily thinking of the great gold coin melts of the 1930's and the great silver coin melts of the late 1960's. Also, the great destruction of silver dollars in 1918 under the Pittman Act.

Coins that have been plated, enameled, colorized, etc so they can be sold on HSN or QVC for outrageous premiums.

Coins in Taco Bell napkins, stored on water heaters or in envelopes on window sills. All of this is 'doctoring'. Cheers, RickO
  • Erasers. Ruined my first two Morgans & Peace Dollars with it back when I was about 7 years old. Luckily they were common dates or else I'd reaaaally be kicking myself for it.
