    mmm.

sure would like to double-check that baby in hand.

That is a remarkable WLH Coiny. Grading from pictures is always dicey...But looking at the chatter in the fields on the obverse, and on the sun rays, the dings on the eagles wing.... and not being able to see it in hand, I would say an MS66. Cheers, RickO

Wow. That is handsome. Terrific strike too.

    Put me down for 66-67.

That strike makes me wonder if you have a proof.
  • 36-P sometimes comes hammered like that. But I think it will not grade higher than 65.

No better than a 64 in my opinion.

    64 was my first reaction.
    When in doubt, don't.

I agree. And since there is some chatter evident in the right obverse field, and other areas are difficult to get a good look at, I'll guess it's an MS64.

Great strike, minimal marks. Hit on the middle of the eagle might keep it from 65. Is the luster "booming" or just "shiny?"

Did not notice until now... the possible hit on the middle of the eagle. Thanks John for pointing that out.

I remain very positive about the incredible strike this Walker shows. Just take a look at the at the eagles leg feathers
compared to the CAC 65 leg. Could Bayard possibly be right that this MAY be a proof? Man, every detail is so clear compared to the 65 CAC.

I will not have this coin in hand until late week as I just purchased it. Thanks a million to all for the responses.
I will repost when a grade comes back from PCGS.

  • Much depends on the luster. You can see ample luster on the CAC coin.

  • 1936 is one of the best struck dates...

" Strike is normally well above average. Obverse and reverse centers are usually sharp Luster is brilliant with plenty of eye appeal, but the date is not commonly found with mint frost. This was the last year of the second hub design."
The above quote is from the fox book on WLH's.

The coin pictured is a well struck 36.

I would say you are looking at 65/66 but I just picked upa 66 CAC for what you paid plus your shipping fees/grading fees.

Nice coin but nothing to get crazy excited about.

I say Very Nice MS65, Look to see if it's a DDO in the date like this one.

Do not know what it will grade as but based on the pictures, I prefer it over the 65 CAC.

I considered the coin, but didn't purchase it. I was afraid it would come back genuine. There doesn't appear to be any luster. Hopefully, it is from the pictures and not from being overdipped. If not genuine and it has nice luster, MS65.

There is no way to tell from that image if the coin will even grade. The image could be hiding hairlines that could bodybag the coin. If I had to guess, the coin looks like it has been dipped and has some chatter which will result in a 63 tops or even a 58 if there are luster breaks.

Unfortuantely I have to agree and would want to see this in hand prior to anything else. Yes, it has a wonderful strike. Hammered indeed. However, unless I am missreading, that coin has been dipped more than once, and the luster has been negatively affected.

From the picture I would say MS62 or 63 at best

I am in this camp, based on the pics provided - in hand it may look better:
