Spot review question

PTVETTERPTVETTER Posts: 6,046 ✭✭✭✭✭
How does it work?
Is it like a submission needing to be 5 or more?

I have never used the service and am lost!

There are no restrictions. Just send it in, mark 'OTHER', and insert 'Spot Review".

I could use this information also, as I have one or two that need to be looked at ...

Pat, drop me a PM on what you find out beyond this thread if you could image

?? Send Spot to them. Make sure he has enough food and water. They will review (look at) Spot, and return him. You pay postage both ways. (drwstr123 has a photo of Spot as his icon.)

You pay postage and insurance both ways. There is no fee, not even the usual "per coin handling fee".

What are you hoping to come from the spot review? A grade bump? Color change? Attribution? You may get better advice with a specific question.

Yes, maybe. But I'm not sure I'd bother for a $40 coin and I don't know that PCGS will either.

Also, the spot is unlikely to disappear without a trace. That may leave you unhappy.

Why not just look for another '39-S?

As a side note and for the sake of the newbies, there is no longer a 5 coin minimum for submissions except for Show Economy, Show Gold and Bulk.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

its not just about the money.

maybe the coin should not be in a PGCS holder and PCGS may want the same thing.

Its is what is best overall.

It should be PCGS's call IMHO

Isn't that the right thing to do?

I don't disagree. I don't like verdigris and I usually do something about it. PCGS has been good about it.

I was just figuring with the costs involved (shipping both ways) and the "iffyness" -- will they do something about it, will you like it, will they send you the coin and a $20 check, will they return it and say "looks okay for 66RD" -- that maybe it was better to replace it.

I once sent in an early Lincoln graded 63RD that was clearly RB (more BN than RD). It came back with a hand written note from the grader saying "looks RD enough for a 63". You just never know...

I agree with you , but I feel it is the right thing to do.

Heavens only knows I have made many errors, what is one more or less.
