How safe are these 2 products? Pocket pages and Saflips.

I normally collect slabbed coins but my son and I are putting together a set of unc. and proof silver eagles. Are there any coins to avoid using these 2 products (i.e. copper, gold, platinum..etc)? Are there any long term effects? The pages are said to be "archival". Images are from Wizard Coin Supply and will be purchased through them. Thanks for any input.

....safe flips state "no pvc" and that's good. some albums out there don't say one way or the other BUT do contain pvc,
    like this one:

....i found out by calling the company.

The Saflips are the exact same ones PCGS uses, these are PVC-Free and safe for long term storage.

SaFlips are safe and the others saying "Archival" lead me to believe they are safe, also.

Album potect the coins but do not prevent toning as well as sealed safe flips. I would look into getting a heat sealer also if I was collecting pure silver eagles.

I like having coins in flips. Kids can handle it and it will protect the coin really well.

Unsure about pocket pages but if they don't have pvc, then its good image

there are cheaper and older products that look the same

when you get them, take one and pull on it - if it smells like a new shower curtain,
do not keep coins in them very long because it contains pvc

the Saflips is a brand that is stiff and pvc free

The safeflips are relatively soft and I'm pretty sure that is the flip that causes many forum members to shriek (or worse) when they receive a coin in one. Without the outside wrapper I'm sure a lot of members here would quickly dub them "PVC". --Jerry

I don't think so. The coins I get back from PCGS in flips are in hard mylar. Safeflips are relatively soft. --Jerry

    Jerry,

I know they are... they're the kind when I snagged a bag of them from PCGS at FUN! image

Before I get flamed I sat down and filled said flips up with coins and submitted them.

I would not put a proof anything into a flip; you'll cause hairline scratches. Either leave them in the Mint holders or use Air-Tites.

Airtites are the best in my opinion. I do have many coins stored in other manners, but if purchased raw, without a container, I always put it into an airtite. Cheers, RickO
