I paid shipping and insurance, there and back. The spot check is free.
Funny thing is, I have 5 of these coins. All were bought from the mint directly, shipped to PCGS together, stored in the same location and 2 of them have spots.

If I had to guess at what happened. I don't know if PCGS uses a blast of air on the coin before slabbing, but if they do, maybe it was the first one of the day and there was some condensation in the line. Just a wild guess.

Lovely. PCGS should handle this without any issues. From most of the threads here, they do good by us for the most part it sounds. Ive never had to use this service, but its great they offer it.

Haven't we heard of a lot of milk spot problems with these coins?

I wonder if PCGS will change its guarantee...

Eeeek! I've got a few out of 50 20th Anniversary sets that have some spots but that one has the Ebola Virus

I think they will confirm that your observation that the coin is spotted is indeed correct. The fact that only two of them are infected IMO pretty much rules out any fault of PCGS in the spotting process.

Milk spots on ASE's..... long discussed and analyzed, no definitive answer and the mint is not talking. Cheers, RickO

I have noticed far fewer spots on ASE's in NGC holders. Most of them have been in PCGS holders. Maybe its a reaction of a planchet solvent with an ingredient in the plastic that PCGS uses? Or maybe my observations have been incorrect. I'm not slamming PCGS at all. I don't buy coins anymore unless they are in a PCGS holder, honestly. But I have noticed the milk spot problem with ASE's seems to be worse in PCGS slabs than NGC in this case.

Mine are ALL in NGC holders and out of 150 coins 7 are spotted.....I think that's a lot especially when they are all (the spotted ones) 70's. Seems like the 69's have a free pass on this...just a coincidence I know.....

I think the way to diffinatively rule out the TPG's is to find some still in mint packaging with milk spots.

On the non-proofs, I know people have shown raw ones, never holdered, that have had the issue.
Not sure if folks have on the proofs (in my environment, I haven't seen any on coins I have had direct from the mint, so it may be environmental bringing it out as well)

I have yet to see this. This would include proof and uncirculated SAEs.
