A couple of threads running that are pertinent so I will post this now. Just bought it, don't have it yet so we have to go by the pics. Many of you already know, but guess the grade, and do you have one?imageimage

Nice example and I'd like to see a larger image of the reverse as the centers are mostly always weakly struck.

Based on what I can see on the obverse... I'm going to guess MS63.

    << <i>63 >>

What made you say 63? I would be shocked if it graded less than 64, as it APPEARS to compare favorably with most 65's I have seen. It looks to be exceptionally clean, lustrous and uncommonly attractive for the issue.

How much would the rim nick hold it back? The devices and fields are nice, but that rim nick is pretty conspicuous.

ms63 CAC image , the luster looks dull but the coin looks rather clean.

I was looking at the same thing(rim dings) I think they keep to a 65...Gorgeous coin.

Very nice, Yellowkid. I'll guess PCGS was conservative and graded it 64.

No, I don't have that commem but I would like to. It fits nicely with the others I have.

    MS-64 and very attrative. image

The reason that I didn't give it an MS-65 is the weakness in the strike on the eagle. This weakness is farily common for the Alabama "plain" variety.

I thought this thread would go well with the others about "half grades" and "stars" that are running now. I had to pay 64 money for this but I don't feel that it was too much. I filled a hole for "cheap" with a very attractive coin. It is also the first 63 I have acquired, the othersin my commem set ranging from 64-67.

I'm going to say 64 because of the rim bump. Definitely better than my 63 - more breast feather detail.

I had missed the rim problem, but still would have guessed a solid 64. In fact, I still do, based on the images provided.

I don't care what the slab says... the coin speaks 64 to me... and an eye appealing one at that. Congrats.

I did not guess the grade, because I could not decide how much PCGS would take off for the rim damage.
