Fake S VDB on ebay...who bids on these things?
Just saw this one tonight, up over $400, mint mark isn't anywhere near close- I don't even think the whole coin is real, let alone just an added mint mark. See it Here item # 280464234214

I agree- Who bids on these things, especially after the Chinese counterfeit issue hit all of the main publications?
Sorry, I just noticed you already linked it. I agree this is way off

He also, in searching far back, had purchased from a Dealer known for selling counterfeit/fake coins (and, the seller listed them that way). That is probably his source although we won't know as the specific item is no longer in the database.

I have that page/item at $310. I clicked on the bidding history and I noticed every bidder is listed as "private listing - bidders' identities protected." That inspires a lot of confidence.
He sent me two emails and this is the last:

I'll respond to him that I too will contact the buyer.

The only way I can do that is if they leave public feedback. Mostly a bluff. We'll see.

you can do a search by bidder (you) and see who won that auction, if you hit the completed button
Why do stupid people bid on a pig in poke like this? That's not even close.

No, that's part of the Chinese copper aging process that is yet to be profected. I saw a good number of pieces with this kind of "aging" at the EAC convention last year.
