Junior mining stocks - primarily gold/silver. The ETF GDXJ would not be a bad choice. I don't thing the entire year will be good for these guys but I like the potential for the next several months.
Or....
shorting the TBTF banks that have insolvent balance sheets: GS, Citi, JPM, WF, BoA. If that bet doesn't win this year it should by the following year.
Stocks of large oil, industrial metal companies, and / or banks in Brasil. They have ADRS on the New York exchange.
I too concur with this strategy. Brasil, is a country with many bright years ahead of itself. Along with Chile as well. EWZ, and ECH are core holdings in my portfolios.

jhdfla, ahh a craps player, dealt it for 7 years, don't know of one individual that won long term. You play right and wrong? One or the other for me, pass line with full odds, buy the 4 & 10, and press, press, press. Maybe an occasional prop bet here n there. To many variables with craps, hands in the way, dice bouncing of cheques, etc. I prefer BJ, or poker.
If I had 50K extra laying around - probably Land Silver if it had to numismatically related Seated and bust if strictly numismatic (same stuff i have been collecting for years)

I'm amazed you lasted 7 yrs, quite a high pressure job to say the least. I don't get to play much these days, and honestly, I would never risk 50K at the tables walking up cold. If I was there a while and had a very hot streak, I might but would have to be WAAAAY ahead and playing with house money. When I was a young guy, had a friend who was learning to be a dealer at the Trop in AC, before he got the job a bunch of us would go over his place and play on a nice big felt layout on a piece of plywood, in this way we all got to learn how to bet and he learned how to deal. Interestingly, there were three of us including him who were rabid coin collectors... haven't seen him in years though. Biggest thrill I ever had at at the table was with $40., was unemployed and bouncing around between states, went all the way down to $5, I held the dice and started throwing crap numbers and then making my numbers. Played the horn every roll on the come out, and the line. Threw 7 consecutive numbers, and a lot of crap numbers, kept upping the horn bets. Walked away with like 1800. after sevening out, which doesn't sound like a lot for holding the dice that long, but I was betting conservatively, and was down to only $5. There were some others at the table that saw a streak and cleaned up.
Always played the pass line and never the don't, but backed up my line bet with a horn bet for insurance. Some will claim that the only way to win consistently is to play the don't, but it was never more than just a good time for me, I could never get sucked in to try and do it to make a living.
To keep things coin related here, in all honestly if I was to come across and extra 50K lying on the road, and it had to be spent on coins, I would buy one or two very low pop seated quarters in high grade.
