If you want to get exactly what you want, don't participate in SS - just buy it yourself. I kind of like that you may get something you didn't know you wanted or would like. My 2 cents.
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.

This whole exercise was fantastic! Seems virtually everyone was either surprised or happy with what they received. Kudos to Lawnmowerman for his flawless execution of this difficult undertaking.
To anyone that was unhappy with what they received or complains because something they received wasn't on "their list," please take stock of the good intentions and the efforts of others. There's absolutely no reason for anyone to complain that they received something that they did not want or cannot use. This is the season of giving and sadly, too many (not really on these boards, but in general) feel the right of entitlement and that they should get only things that they find useful or necessary. To slight a gift is a slap in the face to the person that took the time and made the effort to procure, package and forward said gift to the recipient. If you don't like something, keep your mouth shut and don't participate in the future. Be thankful that someone else thought enough to forward you something when there are so many that would give their right arm just to be remembered during this season.
End of rant and hoping that EVERYONE had a great holiday and has a safe and healthy New Year!
Guess that makes up for last year when the 1st gift that I sent (yes, I did send it), was apparently "lost" in the mail requiring me to send out another gift with tracking and a sig required.

Agreed, I was very suprised someone would post such a statement.
sKilow keep in mind that alot of people are going through some tough financial times and possibly your SS didnt have much else to give and didnt want to break his committment to Matts Secret Santa project as it was a very difficult thing to organize.

As a nonparticipant who has been watching and enjoying the related threads, I don't know what to make of skilow's statement that his SS sucked. Being told that it was 3 racks packs and 1 cello pack from the '80s is meaningless without knowing what years. If it's '88, then yes, he has a right to be upset. If it's '84, he should be doing backflips.
They are rack and cello packs. Post pictures. It will take most of us about 2 seconds to figure out whether it was an acceptable SS gift.

I'm guessing skilow was more upset that he got football cards. Not sure what was on his "list," but he must've been one unhappy kid or had parents that bought him everything to have posted with such tone... But then again, I could have it all wrong.
Yeah ... it would be nice if everyone posted pics of what they received.

He collects football cards. Without knowing the whole story, I would be inclined to think he got a handful of junk rack packs. >>
While this could set someone off if they in turn sent a very nice gift to their recepient, the whole point of this exercise is having some cards under the tree and sharing the hobby and the holiday spirit. It was never supposed to be a dollar for dollar exchange as people have different cards and monetary funds available for this exchange. If you get bent out of shape over not receiving equal dollar amounts you should not participate in a random gift exchange.

My Santa did awesome!! (Thanks!, I'm not sure who my Santa was, but it came from Florida)
I received my gift on my way out the door to Orlando, so I left it back in Texas as I knew if I took it with me, that I would open it early and break the rules , and eagerly opened it up when I returned early this AM. Got some great stuff.
First up, a HOF'er:
Then some awesome Notre Dame items. A David Bruton printing plate type card serial numbered that matches his jersey number, a Joe Theismann autographed card picturing him in his ND uniform, a Maurice Stovall autographed card in ND uniform, and a nice Leprechaun patch card
Dartmouth/Notre Dame ticket stub from 1945 (Irish won 34-0) , a fantastic Paul Hornung autographed card in vintage ND uniform, John Carlson autographed card in ND uniform
and Notre Dame/Alabama ticket stubs from two more Irish victories! (Irish are 5-1 lifetime vs the Crimson Tide)
I love these. I never really pay much attention to modern cards, but these are going to make me at least start looking at modern ones as I really like the ones that picture them in ND uniforms. Makes them much more personal to me. THANKS SANTA!!
PS- My wife was looking at some of the Santa gifts and she is amazed by them that people took the time to make them personal. This board is a great place full of great people.
Some really great stuff here guys, congratulations on a job well done to everyone that took time from their own life to make someone they don't even really know smile on Christmas day! I'll definitely have to take part next year if my finances are in a little better shape.
As noted on the first page...or at least first page for me...I posted what SS sent me, which included a scan of a card he sent to PSA DNA. Yes, Santa is a PSA club member.
Anyway, it came today. Pretty quick turn around it seems...didn't expect the card for several weeks. They must like Santa.
I have a PSA 10 of the normal and tiffany, this will go nicely with. It is perhaps my favorite Saberhagen card. Batting glove inside the pitcher glove....very 80s.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
My SS was AWESOME and happened to be the guy that lives down the road from me (cwazzy). I opened it all up last week and thanked him immediately but had to leave town before I could post anything to the boards. I'll get pictures up tomorrow hopefully.
Thanks Chris! The Enos Slaughter custom cut auto, made by heritageaddict I believe, is particularly nice
White Whales: 1996 Select Certified Mirror Gold Ozzie Smith 2006 Bowman Chrome Orange Refractor Chris Carpenter
Sorry for the slow reply guys. I got home from vacation last night, and my neighbor wasn't home to give me my mail. He just got in from work and handed the goods over...including my Secret Santa gift.
My SS gift included a complete '84T baseball rack box and a couple of Thomas inserts to boot.
I've only opened one rack at this point because I saw a couple of miscut cards on top. I'm glad I did, it contained a Gwynn, Ripken, and Ripken All-Star card; the two base cards are especially good looking.
I'll post more scans when I do the rip. Thank you kindly Secret Santa, I typically save wax/racks, but I'm in the mood to rip I think. It should be a lot of fun!
Sorry for the slow reply! I received some packs of football cards and some really awesome bengals cards that went straight into my collection! The biggest being a a ken anderson/ chad johnson dual auto! Thanks a lot Santa!
Ps the card talking about the spakles made me laugh!
