It's that time of the year again.....

Poster of the year.

I suggest Storm. He has helped so many folks with ebay and PP issues and generally

always provides information that is always helpful.

I need a second. If anyone else has a nominee please bring it forth in this thread or create one yourself.

Matt did a wonderful job this year and his current term ends in about 2weeks

He Joins Stone, Zef, Rube, and I forget the other 1 (I'm sorry) If anyone knows the answer I'd be obliged

for them to mention him.

Happy Holiday's to all

Everyone is a great poster and everyone brings a perspective to the hobby we all appreciate.

Even the trolls that show up from time to time

Ummm, Felicia? She's probably given away more on the board this year than every other member combined (which is an incredible feat by the way).

Storm is awesome and would be a deserving champion - but I have to nominate IJustLoveCards
  • nam812nam812 Posts: 10,601 ✭✭✭✭✭
    I second storm888.

I also want to get everyone on the early bandwagon for next year with thoughts of jimq112. Another extremely helpful member who goes out of his way to help with any/all our postal questions.
  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 31,783 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hard to argue against Storm he definately deserves it for his quick assistance with numerous people here when they have questions or problems with Ebay, Pay-Pal & mailing.

I would personally like to thank Nick "Nam812" for giving me VCP and Pop Report info whenever I ask, I think Nick should get a vote as well he also saved a bunch of guys money when he informed us of the Bing cashback last week.

As usual its been a great year at CU, I continue to enjoy 99% of the Posters here ( 1% Trolls I could do without though image )

My vote is easy - again Storm. His knowledge and more importantly his willingness to share that knowledge has saved countless members here thousands of dollars.

With thanks, I would like to respectfully decline the nomination.

IMV, there is only one slam-dunk candidate for the honor and that is:

    thenavarro

His major thread is among the best that have ever been
on this board. His tireless updates warrant speical recognition.

His recounts of his sundry auto-hunts have been among the
    best reads posted in 2009.

His involvement in the "social and personal aspects" here
    has been high ranking.

    ............................

    My honorable mentions go to:

    VitoCo1972

    and

    Dboneesq

    .....................................

I hope that the nomination of thenavarro will gather wide
support and that he will be selected as the 2009 Poster Of The Year.

nominate lsutigers73 - his tireless efforts on behalf on the forum have been immeasurable......he has outed numerous alts in order to protect the sanctity of our hideaway from the plagues and perturbances of everyday life.

i realize several of the alts are all the same guy, but still............image

realistically, it would be tough to chose just one person this year, there have been some outstanding contributions here and there are so many posters who make this an enjoyable hobby hangout.

Last year I nominated Storm - to me a stand out.
I also support Nam812 and jimq112. Felicias generosity and 1952 set run is fantastic.
I really enjoyed this board in 2009 - thanks to everyone that takes part.

There are a few guys here that I think are worthy.

gumbyfan- Great heart. Very giving. Tries to see the good in people. Handled huge group subs with ease, not trying make money in the process.

nightcrawler- It's hard to find a more giving guy. He just does it behind the scenes so not many people know about it. I also love the fish slap video, Trentimage

nam812- I like his wit. He is generous. I also like that fact that he never changes his avatar. That is some serious dedication!image

I'll concur with STORM... There are quite a few others worthy of nomination, but to avoid omitting anyone, I'll refrain from posting the small list.

Figuring I'll make a few "most annoying" or "most pompous" lists, but that's all part of being an elitist know-it-all, isn't it?

being "Poster of the Year" is as good as being named Raccoon of the Year.

Alice had mocked the Racoon Lodge earlier; now, she dignifies it and her husband in a stirring speech of support and acceptance. "Ralph." She places her hands on his arm. "I know how you must feel. I know how much you wanted to win that Racoon-of-the-Year Award and how hard it must be for you to find out that you're not getting it. But there's always next year, Ralph. And other Racoon-of-the-year Awards. Do you know something, Ralph? I bet you'll win it. And even if you don't, Ralph, there's something else I want to tell you. You'll always be Racoon-of-the-Year around this house."

    Raccoon of the Year privileges:

    1) Opening the first clam at the annual clambake
    2) Steering the boat on the annual ride up the Hudson River to Raccoon point.
    3) Free burial with spouse at Raccoon National Cemetery in Bismark, North Dakota.
    4) Opportunity to run for Grand High Exalted Mystic Ruler.
    5) Throwing the first bag of water out of the hotel window at the Raccoon convention.

Many are deserving. And I cannot disagree with those names that have been mentioned.

Storm is my nominee though. Respected, helpful, sharp (and he never seems to get involved in the mudslinging).

    //////////////////////////

    FTR........

    Either spelling is correct.

"Racoon" was long the dominant spelling.

"Raccoon" has become more popular in the last 35 or so years.

The most important point of the issue is that the spelling in a
    single document should be consistent.

"...exactly why storm should be poster of the year! ..."

    /////////////////////////////////

Thank you all for the kind words.

As we all know, this is the SCMF forum.

"Do you enjoy Sports Cards or Sports Memorabilia? Then step up to the plate and talk about it."

The person who has contributed most to THAT concept, is
the ONE person who should ALWAYS be "Poster Of The Year."

MOST of the "helpful" contributions I make here are merely
tangentially related to the specific purpose of the board.
That does not make those contributions irrelevant, BUT it
does disqualify me as a candidate for Poster Of The Year.

The standout contributor to the primary objective of the
board in 2009 is thenavarro. He is, thus, IMV, the
most qualified/deserving poster to receive the award.

His sticktoitiveness with the thread linked below, is the
best argument for him to be recognized as POTY2009.

That thread has provided hours of entertainment to many
folks, and represents a good reference body as well.

    thenavarro

He should be encouraged to continue his efforts, and be rewarded
for his past efforts. Granting him the subject award would be a
meaningful and appropriate way for us to accomplish that.

Perhaps if we sweeten the cash prize, Storm would accept it? Bump the prize money up to $100,000.

if storm thinks it should go to somebody else, I nominate fergie - his ripping of all sports was and still is, by far, the best post to subscribe to throughout the year. behind the scenes he has helped many collectors here with their collections, most of the time, i believe, sending cards from his rips for free...one day i received a package with a stack of mike bossy cards...and i know he has done this sort of thing for others here too.

i still say storm...fergie is next IMO.
