You can see that very tray on display at a dealer's table at every Long Beach show. It is a jaw dropper.

Oh my goodness. What kind of bank roll would you have to have to own something that wastefull?

How is that tray any more wasteful than any other numismatic item?

BTW, the tray has a very good home. (No, it's not mine.)

    Very cool item.

I wonder if it was submitted to a TPG for grading if it would body bag or be graded and slabbed. I also wonder how big the slab would be and how much the grading fee would be on this item?

That tray is strangely reminiscent of a beautiful silver chalice that I have seen at a dealer's table at large national shows, made from silver coins, also soldered together, and including no less than an 1802 half dime! Extravagant, but memorable.

Wasteful in a sense that the tray did not add any value to the coins, but devalued the coins to genuine pieces.
Wasteful in a sense that the coins are now only decorative pieces with little numismatic values!
I don't see anything neat or cool about this tray, but sad, yes very sad!

Agree. Someone ruined a lot of coins to make that tray.

Amazing item... I find it quite attractive. I do not despair the soldering of the coins, there are hundreds of thousands of coins in jewelry and other items. So what? The coins did not come out of my collection and likely not out of anyone else's collection here. There is no reason coins should not be used for decorative purposes. Only elitists hold inanimate objects as sacred. Cheers, RickO
