Steve authenticates the packs as unopened and original. PSA grades them. That's why the flip says "PSA".
<< <i>but isnt Steve the pack authenticator for PSA? >>
As Bill mentioned above, after you send the packs into PSA they send them out to Steve. All Steve does is authenticate that the packs are unopened and original. He then sends them into PSA and they give the pack a grade.

<< <i>but if Steve is the authenticator and PSA grades the pack then the turtle that won the race isn't a turtle at all is he....??? >>
Some people may say he is disguised as the Hare but I have no problem with it. Sure, games can be played, but I think you need to trust Steve as an honest dealer. If you do, then there is no problem. If you don't, then there are probably not too many people in our hobby that you do trust.

guess I may have walked to close to the line on that one... may have seemed that it was real..
<< <i>my comment is supposed to be random and funny.. not an actual comment at all really.. haha

Sorry Mr. Clemente! Thought you were serious ... it was a good comment anyway, because I am sure there are others that were thinking what you wrote in jest.

so steve authenticates it and PSA grades it? i see said the blind man
does steve technically work for PSA then?

no kidding the flip says PSA...i wasnt assuming it said BBCE
i was just asking if he graded his own stuff...maybe i should ask if he AUTHENTICATES his own stuff...
Don't think I don't know who you are.

<< <i>For someone who is not familiar with Steve and BBC Exchange, I can sympathize with their concern on how the setup appears and the potential it has to be abused. However, PSA slabbed packs are ripped on a regular basis, and I personally have yet to hear of one of these packs being accused of resealed or full of off-grade commons. Think of the consequences for Steve if PSA slabbed packs frequently began showing up as resealed? Not only would Steve's job/agreement with PSA be in jeopardy, but questions would also arise to the authenticity of his own product. It is in Steve's and BBC Exchange's best interest to only authenticate legit packs for PSA. >>
now that makes sense
i was just asking if he graded his own stuff...maybe i should ask if he AUTHENTICATES his own stuff...
Here is a novel idea, instead of asking people here why not get off the computer for a moment and'
call Steve on the phone and ask him?
Then report back here and let us know what he said.
Or you could simply do a search and read the thread that I believe created when he was ASKED to authenticate for PSA.
Steve
Anyone selling large quantities of sedatives could make a fortune off of this Board.

Buying sedatives, mbx quality and quantity, and if they are authenticated or raw?
PS: I think most people on these boards are already using sedatives
Come here every other third day and the drama much like the world turns is always here!

You are seeing a living experiment in what happens when people don't have jobs that interest them.
<< <i>You are seeing a living experiment in what happens when people don't have jobs that interest them. >>
Amen to that!
<< <i>F the packs and F the cards; let's talk about sedatives!!! >>
Ok, Does Steve Authenticate sedatives ?
<< <i>So what happens with PSA pack grading when Steve decides to retire? >>
Joe O. starts taking sedatives.
<< <i>First off I think everyone including me buys stuff from Steve knowing they are getting legit products (I have a box on they way as we speak), with no concerns. However PSA is a company that is dealing in a lot of revenue and although everyone trust Steve competely he should probably have someone else grade his "unopened" material. That is a conflict of interest. >>
I agree it is a sticky subject, but who are you going to get to authenticate packs, The guy working at Home Depot ?
Seriously, If someone is going to know what to look for on un-opened material they will have to delve into it in some manner. i.e. collector, seller of some kind. There is no-one that knows un-opened product better than Steve at the moment, So unless he teaches someone at a grading company what to look for who has no interest at all in un-opened material, It is what it is, and you are going to have to trust the guys doing it.

jeff, why did my comment bother you so much ?????
Bottom line to me are the facts. I'm a small timer when it comes to ripping vintage stuff but everything I've bought from BBCE has passed my test as being reasonably close to what I expected. I got a Steve Largent PSA 7 from the 77FB vending box rip and I'll have to look and see what stars I got from the 2 76 FB cello packs I bought earlier this year. I'd get up but I have a cat on my lap and he says I can't get up right now.
<< <i>Let's see... you said "never dealt with him so i do not know...", then you proceed to compare him to Bernard Madoff. How much sense does that make? >>
All he's saying is that guys who are considered trustworthy can go bad, and in some cases very quickly. There's nothing wrong with pointing that out.
