Over the years, certain coins and certain series were associated with certain PCGS members

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,556 ✭✭✭✭✭
Can folks name the people and the series they were associated with?
Also, have folks noticed a drop in those series if the associated poster is no longer posting (banned/deceased/bored/changed directions?)

So, I will start:
FC57COINS and LUCYBOP - Franklins (well, Franklins are consistently being mentioned as coins that are in the doghouse when it comes to the market)

I have some others in mind, but will leave them to see if other folks have the same folks/series in mind.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Stewartblaynumis - Lincolns
    keets - Jeffersons
    Trime - duh!
    SaintGuru - duh again!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

TradedollarNut and EvillageProwler - Seated and Trade Dollars

    Interesting...I don't consider "type" a series though.
There are always posters who are more focused on an area than others....I was thinking more about the folks who post and become really known for the series they collect/sell/promote/talk about.

    Rick Snow = IHCs
Charmy and her Lincolns (and IHCs)
Russ and his dot-heads and AHs

When Russ stopped being as vocal on the boards, the chat around dot-heads and AHs dropped to about nil.

    That type of thing.

Those are "Kennedy" threads, to be sure (well, the 1st one is borderline image ), but not like the threads being referenced....
Ken (Ksteelheader), Russ, and Marty were the ones who did a lot of the Kennedy threads with what they scored/found/cherrypicked from sets and auctions.

Marty and Russ used to have a little love-fest going with each other and their Kennedys. Epic times for that series. nothing current even compares, imho.

Same for Franklins. Lucy and Frank used to show/tell/teach a lot. Pawpaul and Bushmaster show some nice ones, and sometimes teach, but the threads are nothing, imho, like what Lucy and Frank used to do here.

Agree...and, when he was posting, I think GSA Morgans got a bump up in the spotlight and prices. I even remember his article in the Greysheet on them (I may still have it)....he knew his stuff (still does most likely)

I feel compelled to comment here.

Threads get a lot more response when the subject is mentioned in the title.

...Well, at least from me they do. I just don't open threads with vague subjects.

I am listing the people who collect coin series which interest me or I find attractive:

Shylock - He had the nicest IHC images I've ever seen. He was very helpful pointing out the differences between naturally and artificially toned PF IHCs

Caitlin - Consistent top drawer Buffs - almost made me want to collect them

Broadstruck - Always finds excellent for the grade SLQs - no "just made it" FH coins for him

MFH - Nice for the grade SLQs and Barber coinage (depending on what series he is working on at the moment)

Tahoe Dale, Sunnywood, and TDN - Gorgeous, top drawer registry set material I can only drool about and will never be able to find or afford

Rays - Attractive, high end early copper

    "Seu cabra da peste,
    "Sou Mangueira......."

In reading over these responses, one very obvious omission of a member associated with a specific series would be IGWT for Shield Nickels. He has consistently submitted some of the most insightful and learned posts on his series, accompanied by some incredible photography.
