I think the twine bundling the sticks must be clear, distinct and separate as well. Just a guess.

Center horizontal bands are what the FB refers to.

I see auction after auction after auction that refers to FB as stated in the first post. How can that many sellers be wrong?

The image on the left is of the center bands of a 1944 Mercury Dime graded ICG MS66, and the image on the right is of the center bands of a 1944-D Mercury Dime graded ICG MS67 Full Bands. The bands really are fully split.
Ignorance?

Any eBay seller who uses all caps is probably dumb, lying, or trying to deceive people.
Oops! .......Mercury Dimes
I was not paying attention..
I always thought FB stood for Full Bear
See the bear attempting to cross the bridge right after the storm?

fasces
Term to designate the Roman symbol of authority used as a motif on the reverse of Mercury (Winged Liberty Head) dimes. It consists of a bundle of rods wrapped around an ax with a protruding blade. The designation "full bands" refers to fasces on which there is complete separation in the central bands across the rods.

Several shown in this thread however definitely have Full Split Bands.
