A FH 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter that really is..

As a general rule, 1916 Standing Liberty Quarters don't show anywhere near the amount of detail that the 1917 Type One pieces do. Recently, however, I handled a PCGS MS65FH 1916 that displayed about as much detail as any I have seen. These are not my images, but here are the photos from the auction I acquired it in:

I wish I had the funds to pick up that little jewel.

Oh and by the way, a huge welcome back to the forums.

Are any specimen strikes known to exist of the 1916?

The detail is incredible for a 1916. The entire obverse is much sharper than most examples of this date, even in higher grades!
The clarity of the shield and leg drapery is out of this world. It's almost too good to be true.image
  • A little choppy for a 65 IMO, but I certainly do like it.

I agree. Based on the image, it looks more like a 64.
    Still beautiful though.

I didn't even indicate that I still owned the coin or that it was on my website. You did.

And I was 99% sure it had been sold, before I posted it here. So, it seems disingenuous for you to announce that it's on my website and then insinuate that I was trying to sell it by posting it here.

Don't feel a need to defend yourself Mark. Those who have interacted with you knew the coin was sold.

You have no idea how much it pains me to get on here and write something nice about Mark image but I actually called Mark yesterday re: said coin and he specifically told me it was being shipped out and was most likely sold. Now, back to the bickering and nonesense image

Welcome back Mark! Nice color and head on that '16, the pic may exaggerate the hits on the leg and breast, but one thing for sure that coin is really struck up on the head.

Still, not as nice as the following year.
You can't compare those two dates.

Great pick up and it is one of the better struck 1916's that I have seen.

I assume that you've already sold this coin or it wouldn't be displayed on this forum
    as available for sale.
