At Baltimore, I did not see a single Doily holder

I kept my eyes open knowing some people are looking. None spied.

    How about an all-white NGC slab with the reverse logo on the inside of the slab? Did you see any of those?

    I never see those. I saw one doily at the SAC show a couple weeks back. A pan pac gold dollar. It was bought by mustanggt.

    Yeah, they're hard to find. I have a few of them and I really hope people realize how rare they are...Some think they're even rarer than the black NGC slab.

    I just picked one up from a member of the forums, he was kind to offer it to me. It's a New Orleans Morgan, MS63, common enough but still cool.

    I saw a doily on a MS66RD Indian, but the dealer wanted so much more for it, that I asked if the Doily holder was the reason. He had no idea what I was talking about.

    Also saw a inside-logo NGC holder. When I went to pick it up, it fell apart! But that's someone else's story......

    I saw one last week at the Vienna VA show, a common MS65 Merc. I bought it as I knew some folks were looking for them, and immediately sold it through the boards. Made a few bucks for me and made someone happy getting a doily.

    I picked one up a couple weeks ago and posted it on the forum, but here it is with Todd's fantastic pics. You can see the bold die clash on the reverse, and the holder still has its plastic frame. Even though it's a date I already have, I'm keeping this beauty!

    There is a doily texas commem in MS65 at one of the coin stores near me if anyone is interested and wants me to look at the price.

    can someone post a pic of the all white NGC slab? I think there might be some locally too but want to make sure its the correct one I saw.

    It's taken me a couple months to revisit this disappointment, but at the LA ANA, on one of the end (as you walked in) tables, a guy (about row 700???) had a STACK of doily Mercs in the upper right hand corner of his case. Yes. I know. A STACK (5-6)!!! I casually asked about them and he immediately said "oh, those? I'm keeping those". I was going to launch into a rant of "so why are they in your case then?" but couldn't see the point.

    Someone out there has 5 or 6 Mercs in Doilys . . . and I've had a sick feeling for months . . .

    Julian had a doily Franklin half dollar in his case for under $100, I forget the exact price. It was a mottled toned mint state Franklin half.

    He also had two of the rare all white NGC slab with the gold foil on the inside. They were both Liberty head nickels. Appropriately graded. I believe they were $495 and $895. Since I already have one of them I did not pursue it any further.

    I did buy a magnificent and I believe waaay undergraded old NGC slabbed 1952 quarter in NGC MS-65 for $30.

    About a month ago at the PAN show in Monroeville, I picked up a 1899 MS63 Morgan in a doily for $275. I was pleased.

    Its true that for some its more about the slab than whats inside, for others an older holder is a nice bonus if the coin is all there.

    Some of these early slabs are genuinely rare and sell for a large premiums---especially the first generation black insert NGC slabs and the PCGS Regency slabs.
