<< <i>I have no idea where those reprints come from, but you could pull them out of packs in the early 90s if I'm not mistaken. >>
No, these are "counterfeits" subsequently stamped as "Reprints." The reprints in packs were noted and numbered and were a smaller image of the card AND surrounded by an "extra" border. Mullins' are NOT the ones issued by Topps/OPC.
Bringing up something that has nothing to do with anything
Real classy barfvader.
I don't see the need why so many people here have to constantly troll other users.
Those Gretzsky cards have nothing to do with this issue.
He went through with this listing, and even wanted to add MORE to his order. When he went to add more and found out he was blocked from doing so, he decided he didn't want any of it. If I was ordering something from a seller on ebay, and wanted to buy multiple things (lets say 7 things) but found out that after the first 3 things I purchased I was blocked and they didn't want my business anymore, I wouldn't buy anything there. Since they have a satisfaction guaranteed policy he has every right to send back the cards. I wouldn't want my money going to someone who doesn't want to do business with me, I'd rather give it to another seller.
Just wanted to mention quickly that many eBay sellers have a setting to block purchases when a specific user buys more than say 5 to 10 things.
This is done so that a spiteful bidder doesn't use Buy It Now on everything with a fake eBay id, and really screw up the eBay seller's listings.
I think I set mine up so that a buyer would be blocked after 6 items.
So it may not have been a personal thing or anything to do with the sale/non-sale, the seller's auction preferences may just be set up that way to prevent a fake bidder or competitor from ruining their auction listings, not to mention the Final Value Fees and hoops one must jump through to recoup those.
Just a thought...

You fail to recognize that he went back to buy MORE STUFF after he didn't get "his precious deal". THATs when the deal went sour.
You are wrong. Exercising a company's return option is not a "character" issue.
And a return policy is not a "loophole". You ever returned anything to a store? I mean, after you "shook their hand" on the deal?
What is it about NESC that has board members running to their defense? They sell garbage, they use the term "vending" on their lots to falsely indicate high grade, every single lot they sell is overgraded, and their customer service sucks.
And complaining about it here is going to "damage their business"? You've got to be kidding
Yeah it seems this is a more personal issue than defending NESC as they are total douches and use very deceptive descriptions to peddle their crap as NM/MT.
I don't see how using a return policy is showing lack of character. Also people are insinuating he would take the cards he liked and replace them with others. That is a pretty big judgement call if you ask me. I don't see the "why" a return was made is a big deal.
I now see that most people when they say on these boards "if you don't like the cards just return them no questions asked", they truly mean I think your a scumbag for not completing the deal.
Currently completing the following registry sets: Cardinal HOF's, 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1980 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, Bill Mazeroski Master & Basic Sets, Roberto Clemente Master & Basic Sets, Willie Stargell Master & Basic Sets and Terry Bradshaw Basic Set
Why do people who make mistakes always come on here looking for sympathy and justification for their actions? Getting support from 10 board members isn't going to make your actions any more right.
You committed to buy something with a buy it now. You then asked the seller to get out of this deal which is fine, but you can't assume the seller is going to say yes I will let you out of your ebay contract. So you bid on another item just assuming it would not be an issue. Maybe the seller was not available until after the other auction ended, so accusing the seller of waiting until after that auction to end is way off base. As a seller they probably think you're more trouble than it's worth to deal with; hence the block. I would probably be disappointed to be blocked by a seller, but you can't exactly blame the seller. How would you feel if you the roles were reversed?
<< <i>You fail to recognize that he went back to buy MORE STUFF after he didn't get "his precious deal". THATs when the deal went sour. >>
He decided to send the stuff back after he was blocked and after he saw the sig confirmation package, according to the OP. My question, again, is why did he open the package if he fully intended to return it?

did he ever say he OPENED it?
It sounds like there are a few posters here with a bone to pick against him.
His detractors are grasping at straws.
First saying he tried to back out after "his precious deal" was denied.
When that was proven false they are now saying that he "opened it up and then sent it back". Did he ever say he opened it up? He said he packed it all up, which you would have to do if you're sending something back.

MULLINS5's own words.
See where he absolutely with 100% certainty states the cards are counterfeits?
And here where he is now changing his wording only because he would like to make money off of them but eBay had pulled two previous listings of his. (You want the screen cap of that as well?)
And here is an authorized actual reprint.
You can call them reprints all day long but in the end they are counterfeits and that is why no reputable grader will slab them.
Gretzky reprints have been part of the card world for some time now. Anyone can go to ebay and buy them, some are listed through reputable sellers and some are listed with mal intent.
Hockey collectors can easily forget that these counterfeits are so damaging because they have made their way into every 1979 Gretzky search since time began.
Barfvader, how about post the screen shot where mullins said he wasn't going to sell them? He said that after he realized the opinion of other board members. We changed his mind, I see no need to try and persecute him relentlessly over it.
By the way, I think I may buy one someday for display purposes.
I take back what I said about buying a reprint/counterfiet. I won't buy any that are not officially put out by a card company.
I never liked them and I never will, I just got so used to them over the years and It started to seem OK. But after thinking about it a little more, I don't like them.
Why the ill will on barfvader? someone mentioned the Gretzky rookies and
he simply complied. Patrick and Barfvader are both good guys why all the BS?
Steve >>
Hi Steve, I certainly meant no I'll will towards Vader. And I apologize to you Jeff because it sounded that way.
My point was that Patrick had said he wouldn't be selling the reprint cards.
I also understand that when posts are deleted it removes the story. And that deleteing posts isn't something that anyone should do if they wish to remain credible.
But I just don't see Patrick as being a scammer, he said he wouldn't sell the cards. He seemed to recognize that the popular opinion was dead set against unauthorized reprints. So when do we let it go?
With regard to this thread, I think I agree with everyone for most part. But I've had enough dealings with said seller, and I think sending the stuff back was good for them, they deserved it, IMO.
